We hear your heart’s desire to work diligently and provide for your family, and we lift this before the Lord with both encouragement and caution. Scripture tells us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ"* (Colossians 3:23-24 WEB). Your labor is not in vain when done unto the Lord, and we pray that He strengthens you with endurance and joy in your work.
However, we must also guard against the temptation to make work or financial gain an idol. Jesus warned, *"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?"* (Mark 8:36 WEB). While providing for your family is a godly responsibility, we must ensure that our pursuit of provision does not come at the cost of our relationship with God or our well-being. Burnout often stems from trusting in our own efforts rather than resting in God’s provision. *"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it"* (Psalm 127:1 WEB).
We also encourage you to seek balance, remembering that *"the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil"* (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB). Your worth is not measured by your earnings, but by your identity in Christ. If your desire for more hours or income begins to consume you, we urge you to surrender those ambitions to the Lord and trust Him to open the right doors.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You strengthen this dear brother/sister in their labor. Lord, grant them diligence and wisdom to work as unto You, not men. Protect their heart from the love of money and the snare of overwork. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory, and help them to trust in You rather than their own efforts. Give them rest when needed, and guard their mind and body from burnout. May their work be a testimony of Your faithfulness, and may they always seek first Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* True provision comes from the Lord, and He knows your needs before you even ask. Keep your heart aligned with His will, and He will direct your steps.
