We hear your heart’s desire for joy and happiness, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s presence to fill your life with true and lasting gladness. The world offers many fleeting pleasures, but the happiness that comes from God is deep, unshakable, and rooted in His love for you. Scripture tells us in Psalm 16:11, *"You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore."* True happiness is found in walking closely with the Lord, not in circumstances or temporary comforts.
However, we must also gently remind you that happiness is not the ultimate goal of the Christian life—holiness is. Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily, to deny ourselves, and to follow Him, even when the path is difficult (Luke 9:23). There will be trials, sorrows, and moments of suffering, but in those times, God promises to be our strength and comfort. James 1:2-3 encourages us, *"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."* Joy in Christ is not the absence of pain but the presence of His peace in the midst of it.
We also want to encourage you to examine the source of your happiness. Is it found in the Lord and His Word, or is it dependent on people, possessions, or personal success? If our joy is tied to anything other than Christ, it will ultimately disappoint. Psalm 37:4 says, *"Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart."* When we delight in Him first, He aligns our desires with His will, and our happiness becomes a byproduct of His goodness.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks happiness in Your presence. Lord, we ask that You fill them with the joy that only comes from knowing You. Help them to find their delight in You alone, so that their happiness is not shaken by the storms of life. Teach them to trust in Your promises and to walk in obedience to Your Word. When trials come, remind them that You are their strength and that Your joy is their portion. Guard their heart from seeking fulfillment in the things of this world, and instead, draw them deeper into relationship with You. May they experience the fullness of joy that comes from abiding in Christ. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, for it is in Scripture that we find the true source of joy. Meditate on verses like Nehemiah 8:10, which says, *"Don’t be grieved, for the joy of Yahweh is your strength."* Let His joy be your strength, and may you walk in the confidence that comes from knowing Him. If there are areas of your life where you are seeking happiness outside of God’s will—whether in relationships, habits, or pursuits—we urge you to surrender those to Him. True happiness is found in living for His glory.
