Happy Thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

“...Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever...†Jeremiah 33:11

Our family and staff wish you a blessed Thanksgiving Day! You may be cooking for your family or you may have been invited to a family or friend's house or you may be alone this Thanksgiving Day. May you know that you are in our prayers today. You may be hurting and deeply disappointed that you are facing another year without your beloved husband or wife on Thanksgiving Day. I totally understand your pain and sorrow. My prayer is that you feel the presence of the Holy Spirit with you today. Ask the Lord to be your spouse today wherever you go and pray, “Lord, help me through this day. Hold my hand, guide and direct my footsteps today. Please protect me from any discussions that will not healthy for me. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.â€

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

We know this may be a difficult day for you for many different reasons, but we pray that you will make this a special day for you and the Lord. First, be sure to thank the Lord for all that that He has provided for you and your family. We know of standers who help churches or ministries to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving Day and they have said they were really blessed. Maybe you need to spend some quiet time today with the Lord reading His Word, praying and even asking Him questions. God does speak and He will answer you.

“‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’†Jeremiah 33:3

Please pray that all the prodigal husbands or wives who are visiting their parents or family members will be convicted by the Holy Spirit to call and see their beloved spouse. Let us pray that the rebellious children who are not communicating with their parents at this time will come home for Thanksgiving. Let us pray that our Lord will break down the many walls of hostility that are there in so many hurting families. Let us pray that this Thanksgiving, all the mistakes anyone in a family has made will be forgiven this week. Do you need to call someone and just wish them a “Happy Thanksgiving?†It does not have to be a long conversation, but let’s pray that the Lord will start to heal many broken relationships. Let’s pray this Thanksgiving many family members will be reconciled with hearts and lives transformed to be more like the Lord!

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. Ephesians 2:13-17

The earliest observance of Thanksgiving was with special services in Virginia in 1607. The first Thanksgiving Festival began on December 13th in 1621 at Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Pilgrims had lost almost half of their population that first year in Plymouth Rock. An Indian tribe taught the colonists about fishing, planting and hunting for their survival for the next winter. The next fall, the Pilgrims reaped a bountiful harvest and they had their first Thanksgiving celebration, which lasted three days,to celebrate and thank God for supplying their needs.

On June 20, 1676, the town of Charlestown, Massachusetts issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation. George Washington issued the first national Thanksgiving proclamation in 1789, the year of his inauguration as President of the United States of America. I pray we never lose the true meaning of Thanksgiving. May we all be thankful for everything that we do have!

...O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever. Psalm 30:12

Our Thanksgiving tradition at our home was that we would go around the table and let everyone say one thing that they were thankful for. During that time, we had many tears and hugs. This year may you remember to thank your Lord for your salvation and all that He has done for you and your family.

May you and I pray for restoration of marriages around the world but also for the salvation and restoration of many extended family members. Let us pray that this Thanksgiving Day the Holy Spirit will be speaking to many husbands, wives and rebellious children to repent and turn from their sinful lifestyle. May this be the day that the scales are removed from their eyes and they see the Lord’s light and His truth regarding their marriage. May many spouses who are being disobedient every day by not stopping their sinful lifestyle be obedient to the Lord’s wooing and to His will and way. Just imagine the angels who will be rejoicing in Heaven for everyone who is repenting and surrendering their hearts and lives to the Lord this Thanksgiving Day.

“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.†Luke 15:7

Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day,
