Grace to Be Authentically Myself

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to embrace who You created me to be. As Your word says in Galatians 6:4, help me focus on my own journey without comparing myself to others. Give me confidence, courage and wisdom to express my gifts, fulfil my purpose and remain genuine in every environment. May I never lose my identity seeking approval. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

We join with you in this beautiful and humble prayer and we thank God for the desire He has placed in your heart to embrace who He created you to be. It is a joy to see you seeking His grace to walk in confidence and genuineness rather than seeking the approval of this world.

We are encouraged by your heart to focus on your own God given journey without comparison, just as scripture teaches in Galatians 6:4, But let each man test his own work, and then he will take pride in himself and not in his neighbor. The Lord did not create us to be copies of one another, for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them, Ephesians 2:10. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14, and your gifts and purpose were intentionally woven together by the Father.

We also hear your prayer to remain genuine in every environment and to not lose your identity seeking approval, and this is so pleasing to God. The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe, Proverbs 29:25. True authenticity is not found in simply expressing ourselves, but in being transformed and rooted in Christ, so that we do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2. When our identity is secure in Him, we are free to live for His approval alone, for as it is written in Galatians 1:10, if I were still pleasing men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for our dear one who comes before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You pour out Your grace upon them to fully embrace who You created them to be. Help them to keep their eyes on the path You have set before them and to be free from all comparison and envy. Fill them with confidence, courage and wisdom from Your Holy Spirit, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. Empower them to express the gifts You have entrusted to them and to fulfill the purpose You prepared for them, remaining genuine and steadfast in every environment. Guard their heart from seeking the approval of people and anchor their identity deeply in Your love and truth. Let their life reflect Your glory and bring honor to You. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to abide in Him daily through prayer and His Word, for as you remain in Christ your authentic self will shine more and more. The Lord will be faithful to guide you and to establish you in the good works He has called you to.

We appreciate the way you prayed this, wanting to stay true to who God made you to be without getting pulled into comparison. That pull is real, and it is understandable to feel tired of measuring yourself against others.

What has helped many of us is remembering that our identity rests most securely in Christ. When we live before one audience, His, we can be freed from needing approval in every room we enter. He is far more concerned with our character and our walk with Him than with how impressive we look or how much we accomplish, and His grace covers us when we fall short of perfection.

One small practice that may help is to notice when comparison starts to rise. In that moment, pause and ask quietly, what gift has God already placed in my hands today to steward faithfully, even in a small way. Naming one simple, concrete gift can gently bring you back to your own journey with Him.

Father, thank You for making our friend with purpose and care. Give them quiet confidence in who they are in You, courage to use what You have given them, and wisdom to walk genuinely wherever You place them. Keep their heart anchored in Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

There is much that is right and wholesome in your prayer, for it is a good thing to desire to walk before the Lord without guile and to prove your own work, as the apostle says, that you may have rejoicing in yourself alone and not in another.

Know this, that your true self is not found by looking within to an unaided nature, but by looking to Christ who makes you new. We were created in the image of God, and being fallen, we are created anew in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained. Your gifts, your purpose, your very identity are not of your own fashioning, but are according to His purpose. As the word of truth declares, He is in one mind and who can turn Him, what His soul desireth that He doeth. In every event of providence God has a purpose, and that purpose is one, unchanged and sure to be effected. He that has been with you hitherto will preserve you to the end, and He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. This is your confidence, not confidence in yourself apart from the work of God in you, but confidence in God.

Therefore seek not the approval of men, for to live for the praise of others is to lose your soul in a maze. The surest way to remain steadfast is to feel that men cannot drive you from your purpose when that purpose is God's purpose for you. Let your confidence be sustained as Paul's was, by looking steadily at the Object of your confidence. He could say, I know whom I have believed. All that he knew of Christ increased his confidence, because he knew the Lord Jesus had delivered him. So look to Christ, trust His power which is worthy of boundless confidence, and rest in His immutable love.

We will pray with you.

O Lord our God, who hast made us and not we ourselves, grant to this soul grace to be found in Christ and to walk genuinely before Thee. Take away the spirit of comparison and of fearing man, and give a quiet heart that proves its own work before Thee. Grant confidence not in the flesh but in Him whom we have believed, courage to use the gifts Thou hast given for Thy glory and not for vainglory, and wisdom to fulfil Thy purpose in the station where Thy providence hath placed us. Keep this one from seeking identity in the approval of others, and root and ground identity in Thy Son, that living unto Thee, there may be fruit unto holiness and a life that is sincere in every environment. Let Thy purpose be accomplished, for Thou doest what Thy soul desireth, and carry on Thy good work until the day of Jesus Christ. In His name we ask it, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing it before the Father. It is good to desire to live genuinely before God, to use the gifts He has given you and to walk faithfully in the purpose He has for you without being driven by comparison or by the need for approval from others.

Scripture teaches that our true identity is found in Christ. Galatians 6:4 calls each person to test his own work, so that his reason to rejoice will be in himself alone and not in comparing himself to someone else. That confidence is not confidence in ourselves alone, but confidence toward God that remains firm to the end. When we hold fast that confidence and the rejoicing of our hope, we live as His house, and He gives a great recompense of reward to those who do not cast that confidence away. The favor of God is greater than all human approval, and it frees us to serve Him with a clear conscience, whether we have need of pardon or need of strength to do what is right.

So we pray for you that God will grant you wisdom to see yourself as He sees you, as one created in His image and renewed in Christ. May He give you courage to walk in obedience and humility, to express the gifts He has entrusted to you for His glory and for the good of others, and to remain steadfast when pressure comes to seek the approval of people. May He keep you from comparison and from fear, and make you watchful and faithful in the work He has set before you.

Heavenly Father, we ask for Your grace upon this one who seeks You. Grant confidence that rests in Your love, courage to live truthfully and purely before You, and wisdom to discern Your will in every environment. Help this life to be genuine, not shaped by the opinions of others but grounded in who You have created and redeemed this person to be in Jesus Christ. Keep this heart firm in hope to the end, that all that is done may be for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
