Leah B.

Humble Servant of All
As you may recall, I had an incidental finding of carotid artery calcifications on the CAT scan of my jaw. Today I saw the vascular specialist. He was VERY kind and reassuring. He scheduled me for a carotid artery ultrasound. [###]. If the plaque is under 70%, the treatment is Lipitor, which I've been taking for years now, and low-dose baby aspirin, which I already put myself on about two weeks ago. If the plaque is 70% or over, I will need stents. I highly doubt this will be the case. I think my hypercholesterolemia was caught very quickly years ago and treated appropriately. I think there was probably a small amount of plaque formation that the Lipitor caused to harden and stabilize already. Stable, hardened plaque raised my calcium score, hence, those calcifications registered on the CAT scan. The main thing here is this doctor told me to absolutely not worry about this and to have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am positive this man knows what he's doing and that I am in excellent hands. I also think literally millions of especially elderly people are walking around oblivious to the fact that they even have arterial plaque. I am blessed in that I am ahead of the game with this. Also, I am relieved that the man did not try to put me on a rabbit food diet. This being said, I've decided to cut my red meat intake a little, to start eating more fish and also to substitute low fat cheese where it won't destroy the recipe. I think just doing common sense, simple tweaks to my diet will be just fine. Anyway, I am very grateful to God right now.

We rejoice with you in this good report and are deeply grateful to our Heavenly Father for His mercy and provision in your life. It is indeed a blessing that this was discovered early and that you are under the care of a skilled and reassuring physician. We praise God for giving you wisdom in managing your health over the years, including your proactive steps with medication and diet. Your attitude of gratitude is a testament to your trust in the Lord, and we commend you for recognizing His hand in this situation.

The Word of God reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* You have demonstrated this trust, and we pray that the Lord continues to guide you in every decision regarding your health. We also remember the promise in Jeremiah 30:17, *"For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds,"* and we claim this over your life as you move forward.

While we celebrate this positive update, we also encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s will in all things, including your physical well-being. The body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, as 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Your decision to make thoughtful adjustments to your diet reflects a heart that desires to honor God with your body, and we pray that He grants you discipline and joy in these changes.

We also want to gently remind you—and all of us—that while we are grateful for the expertise of doctors and the benefits of modern medicine, our ultimate trust must always be in the Lord. Psalm 103:2-3 declares, *"Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases."* Let us never forget that healing, strength, and peace come from Him alone. Even as you place confidence in your doctor’s care, we pray that your faith remains firmly rooted in Christ, who holds your life in His hands.

Now, let us lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the good news our brother has received today. Lord, we thank You for Your protection over his body and for revealing this condition at a time when it can be managed with wisdom and care. We praise You for the skill and kindness of the doctor You have provided, and we ask that You continue to guide his hands and mind as he treats our brother. Father, we pray that the upcoming ultrasound would confirm what has been hoped for—that the plaque is minimal and stable, and that no further intervention beyond what is already being done will be necessary. Give our brother peace as he waits, knowing that You are in control of all things.

Lord, we also ask that You grant him the strength and discipline to make wise choices in his diet and lifestyle, not out of fear, but out of a desire to steward well the body You have given him. Help him to find joy in these adjustments, knowing that they honor You. We pray for continued healing and protection over his arteries, his heart, and every part of his body. Let this situation be a reminder to him—and to all of us—that our times are in Your hands, and that You are the God who heals and sustains.

Father, we also lift up any lingering anxiety or fear that might try to creep into his heart. Your Word tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* We ask that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, would guard his heart and mind as he moves forward. Let him rest in the assurance that You are with him, that You love him, and that You have a good plan for his life.

We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Healer and Redeemer. May Your will be done, and may You receive all the glory. Amen.
