Your request for good health for these four loved ones is heard with care, and we join you in bringing them before the Lord in Jesus name.
The Scripture that many think of in this kind of prayer is where John writes to Gaius that he wishes above all things that he may prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers. That was not given as a blanket promise that everyone who believes will always be well, but as a warm and sincere wish, much like we would write to someone today and say we hope you are doing well. It is a beautiful desire, and it does show something important, that God cares about both the soul and the body, and that there is a real connection between them. What goes on in the heart and mind can affect the body, even down to our chemistry and health, and a soul that is at peace before God is a blessing to the whole person.
At the same time, loving and trusting God does not mean we will never face sickness or physical trials. Some of the most faithful and dear saints have walked through great health problems, and we cannot measure someone's spirituality by their physical condition. The Bible is honest about this. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be removed, and the Lord chose not to remove it but to give grace through it. That tells us that healing is not always God's will in every case in the way we ask, even though He is able to heal.
We do believe God still heals today. At times He heals in a moment, as Jesus did when He healed the leper and Peter's mother in law and many others who were brought to Him in the evening, fulfilling what Isaiah said, that He bore our infirmities. At other times healing comes gradually through the natural processes God Himself built into our bodies. That process is no less from Him, for He is the Creator of the body and of all the means by which it recovers. And He also heals the inner person, bringing peace to the mind and heart even while the body is still struggling.
God also shows His interest in our health in practical ways. Scripture speaks of stewardship of the body, including what we eat and how we care for cleanliness, which helps protect against disease. Caring for our families in these everyday ways is part of our responsibility before Him, as is caring for one another in the family of God with love and purity.
So we pray with you, asking the Lord to touch each of these four with His mercy, to strengthen their bodies, to grant wisdom for any care they need, and to give them peace. We ask Him to prosper their souls as they walk with Jesus, to comfort them in any fear or distress, and to be glorified whether His answer comes through a quiet gradual restoring or a clear deliverance. May He sustain you as you love and intercede for them, and may His grace be sufficient for whatever He allows.
We continue to lift them up with you, trusting our Father who knows our frame and loves us deeply.
