🙏 God's Will & Our Basic, Human Needs, (Provision, Forgiveness, Relationships, Protection) Matt 6:9-13

🙏 Jesus said,"Pray in this way: ‘Our Father in Heaven, May Your Name be honored. Let Your Kingdom come. Let Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, forever, Amen.’" Matt 6:9-13, in Jesus' Name.

We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude for this prayer request, as it reflects the very words our Savior Jesus Christ taught us to pray. The Lord’s Prayer is not merely a recitation but a profound declaration of our dependence on God, our submission to His will, and our trust in His provision, forgiveness, and protection. How beautiful it is that you have lifted this model prayer as a foundation for your needs, for in it, we find the essence of a life surrendered to Christ.

The passage you’ve shared from Matthew 6:9-13 is a divine blueprint for how we are to approach our Heavenly Father. Let us break it down together, aligning our hearts with its truth and applying it to the basic human needs we all share—provision, forgiveness, relationships, and protection—while always seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

**"Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored."**
Here, we acknowledge that God is not only our Creator but our Father—a personal, loving, and sovereign God who deserves all glory and reverence. Before we bring our needs before Him, we must first honor His name. This sets the tone for all our petitions, reminding us that our requests are not demands but humble appeals to a holy God. Do we live in a way that honors His name in our daily lives? Do our words, actions, and even our thoughts reflect the holiness of the One we call Father? Let us examine ourselves, for the Lord says in 1 Peter 1:15-16, *"But just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior, because it is written, ‘You shall be holy; for I am holy.’"* Holiness is not optional—it is the call of every believer.

**"Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."**
This is a prayer of surrender. We are not asking for our will to be done but for God’s will to prevail in our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations. How often do we pray this sincerely, only to resist when God’s will does not align with our own desires? True faith trusts that His will is perfect, even when it is painful or unclear. Romans 12:2 tells us, *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."* Are we renewing our minds daily in His Word, or are we being shaped by the values of this world? Let us pray for the courage to embrace His will, even when it challenges us.

**"Give us today our daily bread."**
Here, we acknowledge our dependence on God for our most basic needs—food, shelter, and sustenance. This is not a prayer for excess or luxury but for *daily* bread, a reminder that we are to trust Him one day at a time. How often do we worry about tomorrow, forgetting that our Father knows what we need before we even ask? Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:31-33, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Are we seeking His Kingdom first, or are we consumed by anxiety over our needs? Let us repent of any lack of trust and rest in His promise to provide.

**"Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors."**
Forgiveness is at the heart of the Gospel. We are all debtors before a holy God, and our sin is a debt we could never repay. Yet, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven—*if* we repent and believe. But notice the condition here: we are to forgive others as we have been forgiven. Unforgiveness is a poison that hinders our relationship with God. Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:14-15, *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* Is there someone you need to forgive? Is there bitterness or resentment in your heart? Let us release it to the Lord today, for our forgiveness is tied to our willingness to forgive others.

**"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."**
This is a prayer for protection—both from the temptations that arise from our own sinful nature and from the attacks of the enemy. We are in a spiritual battle, and we cannot stand in our own strength. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* Are we putting on the full armor of God daily? Are we fleeing from temptation, or are we flirting with sin? Let us pray for discernment and strength to resist the devil, knowing that *"he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4).

**"For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen."**
We end as we began—with worship. This prayer is not ultimately about us; it is about God’s sovereignty, His power, and His eternal glory. When we pray, do we leave room for praise, or do we treat God like a cosmic vending machine, only approaching Him when we want something? Let us cultivate hearts of worship, for He alone is worthy.

---
Now, let us pray together over these truths and the needs you’ve brought before us:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We honor Your name, for You alone are holy, righteous, and worthy of all praise. Your Kingdom is eternal, and Your will is perfect. We surrender our plans, our desires, and our fears to You, asking that Your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven.

Lord, we thank You that You are our Provider. You know our needs before we ask, and You have promised to supply all that we lack as we seek Your Kingdom first. Forgive us for the times we have doubted Your goodness or tried to rely on our own strength. Teach us to trust You day by day, knowing that You are faithful.

Father, we confess our sins before You. We have fallen short of Your glory, and we are in need of Your forgiveness. Wash us clean by the blood of Jesus, and create in us clean hearts. Help us also to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Remove any bitterness, resentment, or unforgiveness from our hearts, that we may walk in freedom and love.

We ask for Your protection over our lives, our families, and our relationships. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Give us wisdom to recognize his schemes and strength to stand firm in Your truth. Surround us with Your angels, and let no weapon formed against us prosper.

Finally, Lord, we declare that the Kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours forever. May our lives bring You honor, and may we live in such a way that others see Your love through us. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

---
We encourage you to continue meditating on the Lord’s Prayer and allowing it to shape your daily walk with Christ. If there are specific areas where you are struggling—whether with trust, forgiveness, temptation, or surrender—bring them before the Lord in prayer. He is faithful to meet you where you are.

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Repent of your sins, believe in Him, and confess Him as Lord. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10). If you have done this, we rejoice with you! If not, we pray that today will be the day of your salvation.

May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek Him with all your heart.

Dear friend, we join you in praying the Lord's Prayer today. It's a powerful reminder of our dependence on God and our submission to His will. Let's break it down together, shall we?

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored." This is our starting point, acknowledging that God is not just some distant, impersonal force, but our Father. He is holy, and His name deserves all honor and glory. Are we living in a way that reflects this? Are our words, actions, and thoughts honoring to Him?

"Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." This is a prayer of surrender. We're not asking for our will to be done, but for God's will to prevail in our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations. It's a big ask, isn't it? But Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." So, let's trust that His will is perfect, even when it's painful or unclear.

"Give us today our daily bread." Here, we acknowledge our dependence on God for our most basic needs - food, shelter, sustenance. It's a reminder that we're to trust Him one day at a time. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:31-33, "Therefore don't worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." So, let's not worry about tomorrow. Let's trust our Father knows what we need.

"Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors." Forgiveness is at the heart of the Gospel. We're all debtors before a holy God, and our sin is a debt we could never repay. But through Jesus Christ, we're forgiven - if we repent and believe. But notice the condition here: we're to forgive others as we've been forgiven. Unforgiveness is a poison that hinders our relationship with God. Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:14-15, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Is there someone you need to forgive? Is there bitterness or resentment in your heart? Let's release it to the Lord today.

"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." This is a prayer for protection - both from the temptations that arise from our own sinful nature and from the attacks of the enemy. We're in a spiritual battle, and we can't stand in our own strength. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Are we putting on the full armor of God daily? Are we fleeing from temptation, or are we flirting with sin? Let's pray for discernment and strength to resist the devil, knowing that "he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

"For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen." We end as we began - with worship. This prayer isn't ultimately about us; it's about God's sovereignty, His power, and His eternal glory. When we pray, do we leave room for praise, or do we treat God like a cosmic vending machine, only approaching Him when we want something? Let's cultivate hearts of worship, for He alone is worthy.

Now, let's pray together over these truths and the needs you've brought before us.

Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
