We join you in lifting up this beautiful and profound prayer, rooted deeply in Scripture and aligned with the heart of God. Your focus on seeking Godโs Kingdom first, His will, and His provision reflects the very essence of the Lordโs Prayer, which Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:9-13. This is a model for all believersโa reminder that our prayers should begin with reverence for Godโs holiness, submission to His will, and a longing for His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
The call to prioritize Godโs Kingdom above all else is not just a suggestion but a command, as Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 6:33: *"But seek first Godโs Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."* This is a promise we can stand onโwhen we align our hearts with Godโs purposes, He faithfully provides for our needs. Yet, how often do we reverse this order, seeking our own desires first and then asking God to bless them? Let us examine our hearts and repent where we have placed our will above His. The exchange of our will for His is the mark of true discipleship, as Jesus demonstrated in the Garden of Gethsemane when He prayed, *"Not my will, but yours be done"* (Luke 22:42). This is the posture we must adoptโsurrendering our plans, our dreams, and even our perceived needs to the perfect will of our Heavenly Father.
Your prayer also beautifully acknowledges the work of ChristโHis birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, resurrection, and ascensionโas the foundation of our relationship with God. It is only through Jesus that we can call God our Father, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Without the shed blood of Jesus, our prayers would be meaningless, and our access to the Father would be blocked by sin. We must never take this truth for granted. If anyone reading this has not yet surrendered their life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9-10). There is no greater decision you will ever make.
We also appreciate your emphasis on the fruit of the Holy Spiritโlove, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). These are not optional for the believer; they are evidence of a life transformed by the Holy Spirit. When we abide in Christ, as John 15:5 teaches, we bear much fruit, and that fruit is what draws others to Him. This is how Godโs Kingdom advancesโnot through our strength, but through His power working in and through us. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit would cultivate these fruits in our lives and use us to make disciples who are obedient to Godโs Word, fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
Your prayer for Godโs will to be done on earth as it is in heaven is a powerful declaration. In heaven, Godโs will is carried out immediately, joyfully, and without question. The angels in Psalm 103:20 *"excel in strength, who do his commandments, hearkening to the voice of his word."* Oh, that we would have such eagerness to obey! Yet, how often do we hesitate, question, or even resist Godโs will when it doesnโt align with our own desires? Let us repent of this and ask the Lord to align our hearts with His. Like Abraham, the father of our faith, may we be willing to obey God even when His commands seem impossible or costly (Genesis 22). Like Jesus, may we surrender our wills completely to the Father, even unto death (Philippians 2:8). This is the path to hearing those precious words on the last day: *"Well done, good and faithful servant"* (Matthew 25:21).
We also lift up the request for Godโs provisionโspiritual, emotional, social, and physical. The Lord is our Shepherd, and He promises to meet all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Yet, we must remember that His provision is often tied to our obedience. In Genesis 22:14, after Abrahamโs obedience in offering Isaac, God provided a ram for the sacrifice, and Abraham called that place *"The Lord Will Provide."* Let us trust that God will provide for us as we walk in obedience to Him. This includes not only our material needs but also healing, restoration, and the resources to further His Kingdom. We pray that God would open doors for you and others to be used mightily for His glory, whether through finances, talents, or opportunities to share the Gospel.
Your prayer for forgiveness and reconciliation is also vital. Confessing our sins and receiving Godโs forgiveness is the first step, but we are also called to forgive those who have wronged us. Jesus made this clear in Matthew 6:14-15: *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you donโt forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* Unforgiveness is a heavy burden that hinders our relationship with God and others. We pray that the Lord would soften heartsโboth yours and those who have sinned against youโso that repentance, forgiveness, and restoration may flow freely. Let us also pray for the salvation of those who do not yet know Christ, that they would turn from their sins and receive the gift of eternal life.
Finally, your prayer for protection from temptation, sin, evil, and the evil one is so important. The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), but we are not left defenseless. God has given us His Word, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. We must be vigilant, putting on the full armor of God daily, and resisting the enemy in the name of Jesus. We also pray for angelic protection, as Psalm 91:11 declares: *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."* Let us take comfort in knowing that Godโs angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14).
Let us now lift these requests to the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to You. We thank You for the privilege of prayer and for the example of the Lordโs Prayer, which teaches us to seek Your Kingdom first. Lord, we confess that too often we have sought our own will above Yours, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Align our hearts with Yours, that we may desire what You desire and walk in obedience to Your Word.
Father, we pray for Your Kingdom to come and Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. May we be instruments of Your peace, love, and righteousness, bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Use us to make disciples who are obedient to Your commands, and let Your name be glorified through us.
Lord, we ask for Your provision in every area of our livesโspiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically. Meet our needs according to Your riches in glory, and open doors for us to be used for Your Kingdom. We confess our sins before You and receive Your forgiveness. We also pray for those who have sinned against us, that they would repent and be reconciled to You.
Protect us, Lord, from temptation, sin, evil, and the evil one. Clothe us in Your armor and surround us with Your angels. Keep us vigilant and strong in the faith, resisting the enemy in the name of Jesus. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for hearing our prayers. May all glory, honor, and praise be Yours forever and ever. In Jesusโ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
