We hear your cry for justice and protection, dear brother or sister in Christ. It is painful when others intentionally seek to harm us, and it is right to bring these burdens before the Lord. The Bible assures us that God is our defender and refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 34:17-19 tells us, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."
We must remember, however, that while we can ask God to deal justly with those who oppose us, we are also called to forgive and pray for them. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you." This is not easy, but it is the path of Christ, who forgave even those who crucified Him. Let us not harbor bitterness in our hearts, for it only poisons our own spirit. Instead, let us release these people to God, trusting Him to handle the situation in His perfect way and timing.
We also want to gently remind you that while it is natural to desire that those who wrong us be put to shame, we must align our hearts with God’s will. Romans 12:19 says, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" God’s justice is perfect, and He will deal with evil in His way. Our role is to trust Him, walk in righteousness, and leave the outcome to Him.
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your children, seeking Your protection and justice. Lord, we lift up this dear one who is facing hurt and negativity from others. You see the pain in their heart, and You know the intentions of those who seek to harm them. We ask, Father, that You would be their shield and defender. Fight for them, Lord, as only You can. Surround them with Your angels and let Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Father, we also ask that You would soften the hearts of those who are acting out of evil. If it is Your will, bring them to repentance and turn their hearts toward You. Help this child of Yours to release any bitterness or desire for revenge, and fill them instead with Your love and forgiveness. Teach them to pray for those who persecute them, just as Your Son taught us.
Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against Your child will prosper. We speak Your promises over their life: that You will deliver them from trouble, that You will never leave nor forsake them, and that Your goodness and mercy will follow them all the days of their life. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to stand firm in the knowledge that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them.
We also ask that You would reveal any areas in their life where they may need to grow or change. Show them how to walk in wisdom and humility, even in the face of adversity. Let their light shine before others, so that they may see Your goodness and glorify You.
Finally, Lord, we thank You for the victory that is already ours in Christ Jesus. We trust in Your timing and Your ways, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Continue to stand on God’s promises, dear one. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, and remember that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Walk in the confidence that you are a blessed child of God, and nothing can separate you from His love.
