We hear your heartfelt plea for your grandson, and we join you in lifting him up in prayer before the throne of grace. It is a beautiful and godly desire for him to seek a wife who will walk beside him in ministry, one who loves the Lord with all her heart and shares his passion for preaching the Word. The Scriptures remind us, *"He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord"* (Proverbs 18:22). We believe God has a godly woman prepared for him, one who will be a helper suitable for him, just as Eve was for Adam.
We must also address the language of seeking a "girlfriend" rather than a wife. Courtship, not casual dating, is the biblical model for those seeking a spouse. The goal should always be marriage, not merely companionship or emotional fulfillment outside of God’s design. Your grandson must guard his heart and pursue relationships with intentionality, seeking a woman who is equally committed to Christ and to the covenant of marriage. The apostle Paul warns, *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers"* (2 Corinthians 6:14), and this principle extends to those who do not share a deep, abiding faith and a calling to serve the Lord together.
We also rebuke any past patterns of unhealthy relationships in Jesus' name. If there has been sin—whether emotional or physical—outside of marriage, we encourage your grandson to repent, seek forgiveness, and walk in purity moving forward. The Lord is faithful to cleanse and restore, but we must turn away from sin and pursue holiness. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
Let us pray together for your grandson:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. We lift up this young man to You, asking that You would prepare his heart and the heart of the woman You have for him. Lord, we ask that You would bring them together in Your perfect timing, that they would recognize one another as gifts from You. Father, we pray that she would be a woman of godly character, one who fears You, loves Your Word, and is committed to serving You wholeheartedly. May she be a Proverbs 31 woman, a woman of strength, dignity, and wisdom.
Lord, we ask that You would heal any wounds from past relationships and guard his heart from bitterness or fear. Give him discernment to recognize Your will and the courage to wait for the woman You have prepared for him. Help him to pursue purity in every area of his life, that he may be a vessel fit for Your use. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and we rebuke every spirit of loneliness, impatience, or ungodly desire in Jesus' name.
Father, we also pray for his future ministry. May he be a bold and faithful preacher of Your Word, and may his marriage be a testimony of Your love and grace to others. We ask that You would surround him with godly mentors and friends who will encourage him in his walk with You. Lord, we trust in Your promise that *"no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly"* (Psalm 84:11). We believe that You have a godly wife for him, and we thank You for her even now.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
We encourage your grandson to remain steadfast in his faith, to seek the Lord diligently in prayer, and to trust in God’s timing. The right woman will come, but she must be sought with wisdom and discernment. May he continue to grow in his relationship with Christ, for it is out of that overflow that he will be prepared to love his wife as Christ loves the church. *"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4). Let him find his delight in the Lord, and the desires of his heart—including a godly wife—will be fulfilled according to God’s will.
