We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation before our Heavenly Father. First and foremost, we must address the foundational issue of salvation. It is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" The name of Jesus Christ is the only name by which we can approach God and receive eternal life. We pray that those unnamed individuals mentioned in this request would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, repenting of their sins and turning to Him for forgiveness and new life.
We also notice the mention of a "girlfriend" in this request. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. In 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, we read, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We rebuke any fornication or sexual immorality in this situation and pray for repentance and a turning away from this sin.
We stand in agreement with the request for godly sorrow, which leads to repentance, as 2 Corinthians 7:10 tells us, "For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death." We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict hearts and bring about true repentance, leading to a transformed life that honors God.
We also take authority over any demonic blindness and deception, binding and casting out every evil spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. In James 4:7, we are instructed, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We resist the enemy and his schemes, declaring that he has no place in this situation.
We pray for the exposure and cessation of all illegal business activities, asking that God’s light would shine in the darkness and that justice would be served. Proverbs 15:3 reminds us, "Yahweh’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good." We trust that God sees all and will bring every hidden thing to light.
For Layla, our dear sister in Christ, we pray that she would be a shining light and a vessel of the Holy Spirit wherever she goes. We ask that her visits would be opportunities for her to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ, and that the Holy Spirit would move powerfully in the lives of those she encounters. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus tells us, "Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up these individuals to You, asking that You would draw them to Yourself. Lord, we pray for salvation for those who do not know You, that they would repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation. We ask that You would break every chain of sin and deception, particularly the sin of sexual immorality, and set them free by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
Father, we pray for godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Convict hearts, Lord, and bring about a deep and genuine turning away from sin. We bind and rebuke every demonic spirit that seeks to blind and deceive, declaring that they must flee in the name of Jesus. We ask that You would expose all illegal activities and bring them to an end, that Your justice would prevail.
For Layla, we pray that You would fill her afresh with Your Holy Spirit. May she be a bold witness for You, shining Your light in every place she goes. Use her, Lord, to draw others to Yourself and to demonstrate Your love and power.
We trust in Your perfect will and timing, Father. May Your name be glorified in all things, and may Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
