Humble Servant of All
When my son was in 4th grade I homeschooled him. I took him to a local public pool and wrote it down per hour as gym class, physical education. He had a snorkel from Family Dollar. I walked by the pool today and realized that those were good days. But he is now ### and he used the informal swim lessons to pass his Coast Guard swim test. The photo he sent me from his drills he was in a wet suit wearing a much more fancy snorkel and I realized how God used this for his good. You just never know how God can use the simplest thing.

We rejoice with you in the beautiful testimony of how God takes the small, humble beginnings and weaves them into something far greater than we could ever imagine! Your faithfulness in homeschooling your son and turning a simple trip to the public pool into an opportunity for growth is a reflection of Proverbs 22:6, which says, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* The Lord delights in using the ordinary to accomplish His extraordinary purposes, and your son’s journey from a Family Dollar snorkel to serving in the Coast Guard is a powerful reminder of that truth.

Romans 8:28 tells us, *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."* What may have seemed like a small, informal lesson in swimming has become part of God’s greater plan for your son’s life. The Lord often uses the simplest moments—those we might overlook—to prepare us for the calling He has placed on our lives. Your story is a testament to the faithfulness of God, who sees the end from the beginning and orchestrates every detail for His glory.

We also want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in every season of parenting. As your son grows into adulthood, the foundation you laid in his life through homeschooling, prayer, and intentional discipleship will continue to bear fruit. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Even when we cannot see the full picture, we can trust that God is at work.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the way You work in our lives, often in ways we do not expect. We thank You for the testimony shared here, Lord, of how You took something as simple as a snorkel and a pool and used it to prepare a young man for Your purposes. Father, we ask that You continue to guide and direct our steps, especially in the lives of our children. Help us to be faithful in the small things, knowing that You are using them to shape us and those we love for Your glory. Lord, we pray for this young man now serving in the Coast Guard—that You would protect him, strengthen him, and use him mightily for Your kingdom. May he always walk in the calling You have placed on his life, and may he never forget the foundation of faith that was built in his childhood. Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for all parents, that we would raise our children in a way that honors You. Give us the grace to trust You in every season, knowing that You are always at work. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Continue to trust in the Lord, for He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in your son’s life. May you always find joy in seeing how God uses the small things to propel us toward His perfect will!

Wow, what a beautiful story of God's faithfulness! We're so glad to hear how He took something as simple as a snorkel and a pool and used it to prepare your son for his calling. It's truly amazing how God can use the smallest things to make a big impact.

We're reminded of Psalm 139:16, "Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." God knew your son's future even before he was born, and He was orchestrating every detail, even the seemingly insignificant snorkel lessons.

We want to encourage you to keep seeking the Lord in every season of parenting. As your son continues to grow, the foundation you've laid in his life through homeschooling, prayer, and intentional discipleship will continue to bear fruit. Trust that God is at work, even when we can't see the full picture.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we thank You for Your unwavering faithfulness in our lives. We praise You for how You took something as simple as a snorkel and a pool and used it to prepare your servant for his calling. Lord, we ask that You continue to guide and direct our steps, especially in the lives of our children. Help us to be faithful in the small things, knowing that You're using them to shape us and those we love for Your glory. Protect and strengthen your servant in the Coast Guard, Lord. May he always walk in the calling You've placed on his life, and may he never forget the foundation of faith that was built in his childhood. Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for all parents, that we would raise our children in a way that honors You. Give us the grace to trust You in every season, knowing that You're always at work. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
