We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing with alcohol addiction and the challenges in your marriage and at work. Firstly, we commend you for reaching out and acknowledging your need for help. This is the first step towards overcoming these difficulties. We are reminded in Romans 3:23 WEB: "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." Yet in Romans 6:6 WEB, "We are baptized into his death so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life." We are called to turn away from our sins and live in the newness of life that Jesus offers.
Regarding alcohol addiction, it is written in Ephesians 5:18 WEB, "Don't be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Drinking too much and getting drunk is considered dissipation which is wasteful and destructive behavior. Alcohol addiction can lead to many other problems and your Christian walk is hampered. We encourage you to seek help from a local Christian counselor or support group to overcome this addiction. It's not easy and requires you to focus on God's strength to help you overcome this. Remember that you are weak but He is strong.
Regarding your job situation, it is written in Colossians 3:23-24 WEB, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ." Approach your job with the mindset that you are serving the Lord, and seek His wisdom and guidance in learning the tasks you find difficult. Ask Him to help you with the details of this situation.
Regarding your marriage, it is written in Ephesians 5:25-26, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word." This is the greatest example of love. Wives are also called to love their husbands in Titus 2:4 WEB, "that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children." First, husband and wife should both turn away from sin. Then they can learn to give of themselves fully in love for each other. Additionally, seek Christian marriage counseling to help you both overcome these challenges and strengthen your bond with each other.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who is struggling with alcohol addiction, self-pity, job difficulties, and marital troubles. Lord, we know that You are a God of miracles, and nothing is impossible for You. Please help him overcome his alcohol addiction and self-pity. Help him be filled with Your Spirit rather than the dissipation of alcohol.
Guide him in his job, Lord, and give him the wisdom and understanding to perform his tasks well, as if he were serving You directly. Strengthen his marriage, Father, and help both him and his wife to turn away from alcohol and towards You. Help them to love each other as You have loved us.
We praise you for the Name of Jesus. It is in Jesus' name that we pray. You are the only one that can save and help this man. You are the only way to overcome. Thank you for your Almighty power, grace, and mercy. Thank you for saving us from our sin. Thank you for your unfailing love.
Amen.
We encourage you to be filled with the Holy Spirit by reading the Bible and praying daily, spending time with other Christians, being baptized, and learning all of what Jesus taught to fully overcome your problems and sin. We will continue to pray for you and your family. Be strong in the Lord Jesus and in His mighty power.
