GOD OF RESTORATION
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
What kind of example are you going to be this year in 2014? Are you going to radiate the power and strength of your Lord each day? Are you going to tell others, as the Lord opens the door, including your family, co-workers and your church family, that God hates divorce and that He wants to heal, rebuild and restore marriages?
Do you really believe in the transformation of your husband or wife and your marriage? David did in the Old Testament. He knew the power of God's love and forgiveness as God forgave David of adultery and murder.
Are you battling sins in your life? Yes, you as a stander can be battling, jealousy, anger, unforgiveness or you may be walking or drifting away from the Lord. Psalm 51 is a very powerful scripture that you can pray for yourself, with your beloved husband's or wife's name in it or with a child's name in it. I love this Psalm, as I know our Lord God restored the joy of His salvation back to my husband, Bob who was blessed to share from personal experience his story to hurting spouses and tell sinners that there is a way of escape from their sinful lifestyle.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me… Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow...Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me...Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. Psalm 51: 1-3, 7, 9-10, 12-13
My Lord spoke to Bob more than once, that He wanted Bob to share about God's power in solving marriage problems. Bob thought the Lord wanted him to share on a one-on-one basis, but then the Lord opened the doorway supernaturally to having us start a small ministry that God has grown beyond what we could ever have imagined. The praise is that husbands, wives, parents, children, and prodigal spouses are turning their lives to their Lord God, repenting of their sins. Then prodigal spouses go back home to their waiting husbands or wives and children.
"‘You disciplined me like an unruly calf, and I have been disciplined. Restore me, and I will return, because you are the LORD my God. After I strayed, I repented; after I came to understand, I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’†Jeremiah 31:18-19
In Florida, you will often see someone driving a totally restored antique car which is beautiful. Why am I talking about restored automobiles? Because a restored car is an antique and very valuable today. Someone has spent a lot of time and money making that antique car look as pretty as it was when it was new. It is possibly running even better than it was in the 1940's or 50’s!
Imagine if someone did not have the vision of restoring old cars, and instead trashed them all? Today the restored cars are more valuable than they were brand new. Can you see the example and comparison for your own marriage? How much time are you putting into having your marriage restored?
Bob and I have known of men who bought an old antique car that had not been refurbished, and then they would spend a lot of money and hundreds of hours in their garages working on refurbishing their treasure. What looked like trash to one was a treasure to another. That person who buys the old car knows what can be done by the hands that will take time with love and expertise to rejuvenate their antique car. The people we have known had friends who helped each other with their skills to make these restored cars to become well-known for their beauty.
Can you not do the same for your marriage? Ask the Lord to help you find one to three people to pray for restoration of marriages in your church or in your family or possibly one person in your office. My prayer partner was a secretary in the Cardiology Office where I worked. Believe, walk in faith, have hope and trust in the Lord. Allow the Master to restore your marriage to be better than it was in the beginning.
Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. Restore us, O LORD God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. Psalm 80:18-19
Your Lord wants to restore you, your spouse and your marriage so that you can become a lighthouse in your own community. God wants to get all the glory in your hopeless, dead marriage and then, in His perfect timing, He will touch and change both you and your spouse separately and completely. God will take your lifeless, dead marriage and breathe life into it again. You will, in God's perfect timing, become witnesses sharing with others what the Lord has done for you and your marriage. Then you will give your Lord God all the glory, honor and praise for His awesome works and deeds that He has accomplished.
What kind of example are you right now? Are you a spouse who is telling everyone about their husband’s or wife’s sins, or are you asking others to pray for your beloved? What kind of an example do you want to be? Are you shining the light and power of Jesus to others or spreading gossip about your spouse, who has been taken captive by Satan's lies, tricks and schemes? Examine your light and make sure that there is no darkness in your light at all.
"No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you." Luke 11:33-36
Choose today to be a powerful example for marriage restoration as we come near the end of January wherever you go. May you never forget how the disciples shared about the power of their Lord Jesus Christ everywhere. Even when they were in prison, they spoke to the jailer:
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." Acts 16:31
Now, may you and I be powerful examples of our Lord Jesus Christ this year!
Have a blessed day,
