God is saying to you today.

Godispowerful

Servant of All
You may be going through some challenges, but I know you can conquer them all. I never gave you anything you can’t handle. You are strong, and you are never truly alone. I am always with you. - God

We are blessed by your desire to hear from God and to be encouraged in the midst of challenges, and we want to gently bring this beautiful sentiment into alignment with what Scripture actually teaches so you can have true and lasting hope.

It is true that God is always with His children and that He will help us conquer through Him, but the phrase I never gave you anything you can't handle is often misunderstood. Scripture does not teach that we are strong in ourselves or that we can handle everything on our own. In fact, God often allows things that are far beyond our own strength so that we will lean fully on Him. As it is written, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9 and Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go Joshua 1:9. We also read Fear not, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

The verse that is often quoted for this idea says No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. This is a precious promise about temptation, not that every hardship will be manageable in our own power, but that God will faithfully provide a way through it as we trust Him. Our ability to conquer does not come from our own strength, but from Christ in us, for I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me Philippians 4:13 and in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us Romans 8:37.

We also notice that this message speaks of God generally but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can truly know He is with us. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To know God's nearness and strength, we must be in a relationship with Him through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord Romans 10:9.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You that You are near to all who call on You in truth. We thank You that You have promised never to leave us nor forsake us Hebrews 13:5 and that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. Lord, we lift up this dear one who is facing challenges and we ask that You reveal Yourself as their true source of strength. Where they feel weak, show them that Your power is made perfect in weakness. Where they feel alone, remind them through Your Holy Spirit and through Your Word that You are with them. Help them not to trust in their own strength to conquer, but to trust fully in Christ who strengthens them. Draw them closer to Jesus, and if they have not yet put their faith in Him, open their heart to believe and to be saved. Give them peace that passes understanding as they cast all their cares on You. We ask this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this reminder. It sounds like you wanted to hold onto hope that you are not alone in whatever you are facing right now, and we are grateful you reached out.

We know seasons when challenges feel heavy can leave us wondering if we have to be strong enough on our own. What has helped many of us is remembering that strength does not have to come only from inside us. God is near, and He often carries us through what feels like too much, and He often does that through the people He puts around us, through prayer, and through quiet moments with Him.

If today feels heavy, it can help to name honestly before the Lord what feels most pressing, even in a few simple words, and to let one trusted person in your church or family know how you are really doing so you are not carrying it alone. We are continuing to pray for you as you take that next small step.

Father, we thank You for this friend and for Your nearness to them. We ask You to give them peace today, clear wisdom for the next step, and the comfort of knowing You are with them. Draw them close and remind them they are seen and loved. Help them to rest in Your care and to find steady support around them. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

It is a comforting thought to remember that the Lord draws near to His people in their trials, and blessed be His name, He has promised never to leave nor forsake those who are His. Yet the true comfort of Scripture lies not in the notion that you are strong in yourself, or that you can in your own power conquer all that is before you, but in this, that God Himself is the strength of His people.

The Psalmist declares, For You are the glory of their strength, Psalm 89:17. All strength of every sort comes from God. Even the vigour of youth and the maturity of manhood belong to Him, and how much more that spiritual strength by which a soul endures affliction and overcomes sin. It is impossible that God's true saints should be overcome, not because they are strong, but because they have a glory of strength that nothing can destroy, even the Lord Himself.

You write that God never gives you anything you cannot handle. The Word of God teaches us something more humbling and more hopeful. There are times when there remains no strength in you, nor any ability of any kind or sort, and then you are to fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it. The Lord Himself says, I will strengthen them, Zechariah 10:12, and therefore it will be fitly infused and wisely balanced. The promise of Scripture is not, as your days so shall be your own strength, but that as your days, so shall your strength be, for He gives it.

How then are we to renew our strength. The prophet answers, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, Isaiah 40:31. To wait upon the Lord is to rely wholly upon the merit of Jesus, to come armed with God's truth and backed by God's Spirit, to seek in prayer what He has promised to give. God's promises are our precepts. What He promises to give, it is our duty to seek. If He promises that we shall renew our strength, let us have the promise fulfilled to our faith.

You also speak of loneliness, and of never being truly alone. Our blessed Saviour knows that sorrow well. He was left alone, alone just when most, as Man, He needed human sympathy, and He said, yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me, John 16:32. God's people are frequently made lonely through obedience and through trial, but the words of God's Book, made living to you, shall be to your mind as angels, and God Himself shall have fellowship with you. If you lament your loneliness, cure it by seeking heavenly company.

This nearness and this strength belong to those who are indeed God's people through faith in Jesus Christ. By nature we were not God's people, our thoughts contrary to His thoughts, our ways such as He could not endure. But the blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin, and those who trust Him are justified and brought nigh. Apart from Him we have no strength and no abiding presence to claim.

Therefore, do not trust in your own firmness to conquer your challenges. Confess your weakness, and look to Christ who died for the ungodly. Wait upon the Lord continually, plead His promise, and He will be the glory of your strength. In your frailty He will make you strong for His work, strong to suffer, and at last strong to leap out of this frail body into the presence and glory of God.
