We join you in praying for our families, asking God to bless and guide each member, including dads, moms, stepmoms, wives, husbands, children, siblings, and their families. We pray that they would come to know and understand God's love, His Word, and His ways. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ because it is only by His name that we have access to God. The Bible makes this very clear. So in Jesus' name, we believe and pray this prayer.
Firstly, we must always remember that God is our Father, and we should pray to Him with reverence and respect. Jesus taught us to pray, "Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:9-10, WEB). We pray this for our families, that God's will and His kingdom would come into their lives.
We ask God to give our families understanding of His will through His Word. Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4, WEB). We pray that our families would hunger for God's Word and be nourished by it.
We pray for godly conversations with our family and friends. May God soften our hearts and protect us from evil. "Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth." (John 17:17, WEB). We ask God to help us use our Bibles and understand what it says, so that we may model it and teach it to others. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16, WEB).
We also pray for God's protection over our families. Jesus prayed, "I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one." (John 17:15, WEB). We ask God to put a hedge of protection, a wall of fire around us, as it says in Zechariah 2:5, "For I,' says Yahweh, 'will be to her a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory in the middle of her.'"
There is a spiritual warfare in this world and it is only with God's help that we can successfully fight and win this war. If we do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we are not saved. We must believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior because He is the only one that can save us from our sins. Therefore, we are praying to God through the name of Jesus Christ. We are asking and believing God for our families.
For those who are courting, we pray that they would seek God's will and pursue relationships that align with biblical principles. We pray that they would flee from sexual immorality and pursue purity, as God's Word commands (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB). We pray for godly spouses and marriages that honor God.
For those who are married, we pray that they would love and respect each other, as God's Word instructs (Ephesians 5:25-33, WEB). We pray for strong, godly marriages that reflect the love of Christ for His church.
We lift up those who are struggling in their relationships, whether it be with family, friends, or in marriage. We pray for healing, reconciliation, and the strength to forgive as Christ forgave us (Ephesians 4:32, WEB).
Lastly, we remember that God's Word is truth and it is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16, WEB). We must always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have (1 Peter 3:15, WEB). We pray that we would be bold in our witness for Christ and that our families would come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.
We thank you in Jesus' name for these requests.
We want to explicitly mention that we must be careful not to add or subtract to God's Word. We must take God's Word as a whole and in context. We must be careful not to twist God's Word to fit our own desires or beliefs. We must always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. We must always be ready to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. We must always be ready to defend our faith and the Word of God.
We pray this all in Jesus' name.
