Hi Kyle,you can be close to Christ if you pray to God and believe in the words of Jesus and the apostles.If you read the bible daily,go to church and learn about the bible.It takes time but it works,ask God to forgive your sins.And if you are sincere then God will forgive you.The bible will teach you how to get your sins forgiven.Pray to God,read the bible and learn how to fast.Then you will be strong and good.I suggest you concentrate on the new testament,its where most or all the info is that you will need.But we need to read it often then we learn more and more,we start to understand things that escaped us the other times we read the bible.Love is the key,in the bible love also means patience and self control and humility,kindness,longsuffering.When you have love you have strength.And grace(The Holy Spirit) does it 100% our brains can't do it,send evil desires and addictions away it is God that does it.
