God help me with lust

Beloved of All
Struggling with lustful thoughts I’m going through a very depressed time and my flesh wants to medicate to some porn have mercy on me Lord I don’t want to do this I hate my life God heal me please I’m tired of this

We hear your cry for help, and we join you in turning to the Lord with hearts full of compassion and truth. The struggle with lustful thoughts and the temptation to turn to pornography is a battle many face, but it is not one you must fight alone. The Word of God tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not alone in this fight, and God has already provided a way out—you must choose to take it.

First, we must address the root of this struggle. Lust is a sin that wages war against the soul (1 Peter 2:11), and pornography is a tool of the enemy to ensnare and destroy. It does not bring healing or relief; it only deepens the wound and separates you from the peace and purity God desires for you. Jesus warned, "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). This is not to condemn you but to awaken you to the seriousness of this battle. The enemy wants you to believe that this sin is harmless or even a solution to your pain, but it is a lie. It will only lead to more despair, shame, and bondage.

Your depression and weariness are real, and we do not dismiss them. However, we must rebuke the lie that turning to sin will bring you comfort. The psalmist cried out, "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance" (Psalm 42:5). True healing comes from God alone, not from the fleeting and empty promises of sin. You are tired, and that is understandable, but we encourage you to redirect that exhaustion toward running to God rather than running to what will only make you more weary.

We also want to gently address the mention of "God" without acknowledging the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). There is no salvation, no healing, and no victory apart from Him. If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. He is the only one who can break the chains of sin and bring true freedom. "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

Now, let us pray together for your deliverance and healing:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is struggling with lustful thoughts and the temptation of pornography. Lord, we know that this battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). We ask that You would strengthen him with Your might and armor him with Your truth. Break the chains of this sin, Lord, and set him free from its grip. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him this sin is harmless or that it can bring comfort. Father, we know that true comfort and healing come only from You.

Lord, we ask that You would heal his heart from the depression and weariness he is experiencing. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind him that he is not alone, that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Help him to fix his eyes on You, Jesus, the author and perfecter of his faith (Hebrews 12:2). Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to flee from it (1 Corinthians 6:18).

Father, we also pray for a renewed mind. Transform him by the renewing of his mind, that he may prove what is Your good, well-pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2). Surround him with godly men who can encourage and hold him accountable. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and holiness. Lord, we know that You are faithful, and You will not let him be tempted beyond what he can bear. Provide the way of escape, and give him the courage to take it.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy and grace. We trust in You to bring victory and healing. Amen.

In this time of struggle, we encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart and mind. Flee from temptation—literally turn away from anything that leads you into sin. Fill your mind with Scripture, meditating on God’s Word day and night (Psalm 1:2). Seek accountability with a trusted brother in Christ who can pray with you and help you stay on the path of righteousness. And most importantly, draw near to God. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:8). He is waiting for you with open arms, ready to heal and restore you. You are not defined by this struggle, but by the One who has already overcome it. Keep fighting, keep hoping, and keep trusting in Him.

We're here with you, standing in the the gap, lifting you up to our Heavenly Father. We know the battle against lust and pornography is real and relentless, but remember, you're not alone. Jesus promised, "I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20).

First, let's acknowledge the pain and depression you're feeling. It's okay to not be okay all the time. But, we must turn to God in our weakness, not to sin. As it's written, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Jesus is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Now, let's address the root of this struggle. Lust is a powerful enemy, but Jesus is more powerful. He broke its chains in His own life and promises to do the same for us. "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age" (Titus 2:11-12).

We encourage you to take practical steps too. Guard your heart and mind by fleeing from temptation, filling your mind with God's Word, and seeking accountability. But most importantly, draw near to God. He is waiting with open arms, ready to heal and restore you.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You on behalf of our brother. Lord, we know he's struggling, but we also know Your power is greater. Strengthen him, Lord. Fill him with Your Spirit, Your peace, and Your love. Help him to resist temptation and flee from it. Surround him with godly men who can encourage and hold him accountable. Lord, we trust in You. You are faithful, and You will not let him be tempted beyond what he can bear. Provide the way of escape, and give him the courage to take it. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want you to know how deeply we’ve been lifting you up before the Lord these past days, asking Him to meet you in your struggle with lust and the heavy weight of depression. It takes real courage to bring such a raw and honest cry to God—and to us—and we’re so grateful you trusted us with it. We’ve been praying specifically that the Holy Spirit would flood your heart with conviction, not condemnation, and that He would replace every fleeting escape with the lasting comfort only He can give.

We’ve asked the Lord to break the chains of temptation that feel so strong right now, and to remind you of your true identity in Christ—not as someone defined by failure, but as a beloved child of God, redeemed and set free. We’ve also been interceding for healing over your mind and emotions, that the depression wouldn’t have the final say, but that joy and hope would begin to rise in its place. And we’ve asked God to surround you with people who can walk alongside you, offering accountability, encouragement, and the kind of love that points you back to Him.

If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—if you’ve experienced even a moment of victory, clarity, or peace—please share it with us! Your testimony could be the very thing someone else needs to hear as they battle the same lies. But if the struggle still feels overwhelming, don’t hesitate to post this request again. We’re not going anywhere. We’ll keep standing with you, praying with you, and believing with you that God is at work, even when it’s hard to see.

Above all, we’re praying that you would encounter Jesus in a fresh way—that He would meet you in your exhaustion, your shame, and your longing, and remind you that He is enough. Keep pressing into Him. Keep fighting the good fight. And know that we’re right here, lifting you up in Jesus’ Name.
