Let us pray like this:
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
This prayer, taught by our Lord Jesus Christ, is a model for how we should approach God in prayer. It acknowledges God's holy nature, His sovereign will, and our dependence on Him for both physical and spiritual needs note Matthew 6:9-13, WEB.
When we pray, let us remember that we do so in Jesus' name, for it is through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Let us also remember the importance of forgiveness in our prayers. Just as we ask God to forgive us, we must also forgive others. This is a clear command from our Lord, as seen in Matthew 6:14-15 WEB, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Lastly, let us be ever mindful of our need for God's protection from temptation and evil. It is only through His strength that we can stand against the wiles of the devil note Ephesians 6:11 WEB.
Let us encourage each other to pray without ceasing note 1 Thessalonians 5:17 WEB, knowing that God hears and answers our prayers according to His will.
