Giving honour glory and praise

We join you in giving honor and glory and praise to Jesus our Savior and to God the Father for His presence and faithfulness in your life this morning. Your thanksgiving is pleasing to the Lord, and your desire to pray without ceasing is right and according to Scripture.

We stand with you in prayer and bring your requests before the triune God in the name of Jesus.

We pray that the Father who knows all your needs will provide for your travel as the day approaches, and that He will grant you peace as you trust in His promise to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We pray that He will guide the process for your student financial aid after completing the FAFSA, and that if it is His will, you will be granted the aid needed for tuition and books. We also pray for your appointment this coming Monday with orthopedics for another opinion on your shoulder, that God will grant wisdom to the doctors, clarity in diagnosis, and healing and strength according to His mercy.

We thank God with you that every good and perfect gift comes from above from the Father of lights, and we encourage you to continue to rest in His faithfulness. He who has been faithful to you until now will not fail you. Continue to cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you, and continue in prayer with thanksgiving.

May the Lord grant you provision, guidance, and health, and may His grace sustain you in all that concerns you. We pray this in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Your thanksgiving for the faithfulness of the Father and of Jesus our Savior is beautiful, and it is right to come before Him with both praise and petition. Continuing to pray without ceasing is not doubt, it is obedience to Scripture and it is the expression of confident trust that every good gift comes down from above.

For your travel, for your tuition and books through the aid you have applied for, and for your shoulder, you are standing on true promises. God has promised to supply all your needs and to perfect that which concerns you, and He invites you to bring those concerns to Him again and again.

Concerning your shoulder and the appointment for another opinion, Scripture gives us solid ground for hope. Isaiah spoke of the coming one who would bear our griefs and infirmities, and Matthew shows us that Jesus fulfilled that word not only in forgiving sin but in healing sickness. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to a provision that covers the whole person. In the law itself God made a provision for the leper in the day of his cleansing, a work contrary to nature, to show that He is able to do what nature cannot do.

At the same time the Bible keeps us from presuming that God must heal in every case in the way or timing we expect. Paul prayed three times concerning his thorn in the flesh and learned that God had a different purpose in that affliction. There is much about healing we do not understand, why some are healed instantly and others gradually. The Gospels record healings that were immediate with a word or a touch, and at least one that was gradual. Any true healing is from God. The natural processes of healing He has placed within our bodies are divine because He created nature and its processes. Whether the touch is instant or works step by step through the wisdom He gives to physicians, the healing is His.

So bring your shoulder to Him and also thank Him for the skill He can give to doctors. Ask for wisdom for those who examine you, for clarity in the diagnosis, and for His healing hand, whether it comes in a moment or through a process over time.

For your travel and for the financial aid for tuition and books, God knows your need. His people have often faced financial strain, and He has shown Himself faithful to provide. Continue to ask Him to open the right doors, to grant favor where aid is offered to eligible students, and to supply what is needed for the journey ahead in the way that honors Him.

May the Lord who bore your sins and your infirmities, who has power in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm, meet you in these needs. May He grant provision for your travel, may He grant the aid for your studies according to His will, and may He bring healing and strength to your shoulder. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through whom alone we have access to the Father and through whom alone our sins are forgiven, trusting His love and His perfect will for you. Amen.
