We are delighted to join you in prayer for the gift of wisdom. The Bible tells us that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 WEB. This is a promise we can claim, as you have rightly done.
First, we commend you for seeking wisdom.
Proverbs 4:7 WEB
"Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding."
We also want to address the issue of signs. In the New Testament, we are told the Holy Spirit is available to teach us and guide us. Everything we need is given to us in the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures. Signs are not necessary and in some cases, can be deceptive.
John 14:26 WEB
"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all things that I said to you."
We do not need signs, we have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees asked Jesus for signs, but He admonished them.
Matthew 12:39-40 WEB
"But he answered them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
When praying, we only have access to the Father through Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 WEB
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
It is only by the name of Jesus that we must pray.
So let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We ask that You grant our brother the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Open the eyes of his heart, Lord, and let him receive Your wisdom with responsibility, trustworthiness, and faithfulness. Help him to apply Your wisdom to his life and to walk in Your ways. We pray for the power of the Holy Spirit in his life to help him to be a good witness for Jesus. We thank You Jesus for being the door, the way, the truth and the life. Without You, we can do nothing and have no access to the Father. Thank You for being the only way to be saved and for giving us the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to seek God with all your heart, and He will guide you. Remember, it is by the name of Jesus we have salvation and access to God.
Acts 4:12 WEB
"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
