Let us come together to lift up our brother or sister in prayer. They have come seeking God's help in their life and asking for Jesus to be involved. The request is encouraging, but the lack of the name of Jesus Christ is something that we should all take seriously. We need to be aware that in everything we do and ask of God, we should do in the name of Jesus, the one through whom we have access to God the Father. (John 14:6, 14:13-14)
We are reminded by Jesus that "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." (John 14:13-14). This shows the importance of asking for things in the name of Jesus.
We pray:
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father, but through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). We lift up Your child and pray that they will Get with Jesus and seek to live a life that is pleasing to You. We ask that You will help them to be a better person, to communicate effectively, and to make better decisions and choices in their life. We pray this confidently, knowing that You hear our prayers made in the name of Jesus and that You are willing and able to help Your children.
We also pray that they will continue to grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. May they come to know Jesus more intimately and experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in their life. May they be convicted of any sin and turn away from it, and be guided into all truth.
We encourage them to remain steadfast in their faith, and to trust in the Lord with all their heart, and not lean on their own understanding. In all of their ways, may they acknowledge You, and You will make their paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We also encourage them to spend time in the Word of God, for it is a lamp for their feet and a light for their path (Psalm 119:105). By studying and meditating on God's Word, they will be better equipped to make wise decisions and live a life that is pleasing to God.
May they also seek the counsel of other believers, for there is wisdom in a multitude of counselors (Proverbs 11:14). May they be open and honest in their communication, speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). For a wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel (Proverbs 1:5).
May they also be encouraged by the words of the apostle Paul, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2)
Father, we ask this and pray this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and our Lord and Savior. Amen.
