Friendship--Gods way vs. mans way

How many of you have dealt with "fair weather friends",who are your friends until a minor quirk occurs, and they wave you off?I have--one lady, who I was "friends" with for a while,ONE time she was texting me through the day, but I was busy driving, and you can't just pick up a cellphone and start texting while driving, dangerous and also laws against it. {She was out of work at the time and had nothing else to do, probably bored}So by the end of the day I texted back, ,"You know, when you're as busy as me, you can't just immediately text back all throughout the day."That's it!!I'm her enemy for life now, and she ignores me when she sees me.{Too bad}.Another lady, I did much for her, and she always praised me,but one day there was a little "mishap", that's it, now she "gives me the cold shoulder" also.I can think of others, including "out of sight, out of mind" reactions, but now, let's compare Gods outlook towards friendship,as compared to mans."There exists a friend how sticks closer than a brother.""Greater love has no one than someone who lays down their life for a friend."And Jesus,"Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of this system of things."{Always, as opposed to, until a minor quirk occurs.}The Gospel song goes,"What a friend we have in Jesus."So apparently, Godly views on friendship are different than what we're used to amongst fallen people, who are "conditional" friends.Even the "out of sight, out of mind" outlook of some, they change with new circumstances, back to the Word."Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow".So although we value our friends, at the same time I'm reminded of the words, "look at God, not at man."

Tim Keller -Friendship

Keller has some good thougths on the subject. I have too been dealing whit people who are seemingly friends but then if I am not pleasing them or are avainvable they get angry and walk away. Also there was one man I considered a brother in Christ and we became very good friends. I saw this man to come to know Christ and be delivered from drugs and alcohol. But he stapped me into back and abandoned the faith. I forgive him and I believe God will pull him back. Impossible some migth say but when has something been too hard for God? Or is his hand too short to help us?

Let us pray that we could honor God in our friendships and we could find friends that are godly and stay there despite diferences in wiews. In Jesus name and blood.

I believe God is the One who blesses us with the friends that we have even if they come and go. Your post reminds me of a plaque a friend has, that basically says; What if you woke up to find that you only had what you thanked Jesus for yesterday? Thank You, Praise You Lord Jesus for everything You bless me with especially the friends You bless me with! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!

Very nice post!

What about the ones you thought were your friends, then they stab you in the back? You're grateful for that , too?

True friendship comes from heaven. Jesus want us all to open our hearts and welvome Him in and dine with Him. Hear the words of His mouth. I stand at the door and knock. Would you open that door so I can come in and dine with you? Yes Lord, I am opening my door wide open. Yes. You can come in.

True friends, especially true friends from Jesus do not stab you in the back Steven
I can't use Judas as an example, because that was part of the Devine plan. And those who blame the Jews and the Romans,it wasn't their "fault" either, because remember, the crucifixion had to take place in order for Gods sacrifice .It was all part of the plan, and foreordained by God.
