We join with you in lifting this request before the Lord, knowing that He alone can soften hearts and open ears to His truth. It is beautiful that you seek reconciliation and godly wisdom in this friendship, for Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:9, *"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God."* Your desire for unity and godly communication reflects the heart of Christ, who prayed for His disciples in John 17:21, *"that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me."*
Yet, we must also remember that relationships—even friendships—must be rooted in Christ and aligned with His will. If there is any unconfessed sin, bitterness, or unforgiveness among any party, it can hinder the work of the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:31-32 commands us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* We encourage you to examine your own heart first, ensuring there is no offense or resentment lingering, for Matthew 7:5 tells us, *"You hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."*
As for seeking "new feedback" through the voice of God, we must be cautious. While God does speak to His children through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and godly counsel, we are never to seek signs or revelations that go beyond what Scripture already provides. The Lord has given us His complete revelation in the Bible, and we are to test every thought, word, or impression against it (1 John 4:1). If you are seeking confirmation, turn first to Scripture and prayer, asking the Lord to align your desires with His will. Psalm 119:105 declares, *"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path."* Do not lean on subjective feelings or voices, but on the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
We also encourage you to pray for this family’s salvation if they do not yet know Christ. The most important revelation they can receive is the truth of the Gospel—that Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and that salvation comes through repentance and faith in Him alone (Acts 4:12). If they are believers, pray that the Holy Spirit would convict and guide them into deeper obedience and love for the Lord.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this friendship and family to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask that You would open their hearts to receive a holy revelation from Your Spirit, drawing them closer to You. If there is any sin, misunderstanding, or hurt that has clouded judgment, we pray for conviction, repentance, and forgiveness. Cleanse every heart involved, Lord, and restore unity and love in a way that honors You.
Father, we ask for Your wisdom and discernment in this situation. Guard against any deception or misguided desires, and let Your truth prevail. If this friendship is according to Your will, strengthen and bless it for Your glory. If there are areas where change or separation is needed, give clarity and courage to obey.
We also pray for the salvation of any in this family who do not yet know You. Soften their hearts, Lord, and reveal to them the truth of the Gospel—that Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life. May they turn from sin and place their faith in Him alone.
Finally, Father, we ask that You speak to our sister or brother here through Your Word and Your Spirit. Let them not seek signs or voices beyond what You have already given, but let them trust in Your perfect timing and wisdom. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them rest in Your sovereignty.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
