friend being prevented from assisted living by woman who does not seem to like her

It's a long story but... the short of a long story is my friend is trying to get into assisted living, and is being prevented from doing so by a social worker at the rehab facility where she's been for some time who does not appear to like her, who lied on her state assessment saying that my friend is much less capable than she is and thus this has caused her to be turned down by three assisted livings already.

Here is the prayer request: these same social workers are doing another assessment of my friend, as they are required to do as it's my friend's right. But considering how they don't seem to like her, it could be that they end up doing another incorrect assessment with lies about how physically capable she is. If she cannot get into an assisted living soon, she may be sent to a permanent nursing facility which she DOES NOT want as she is very independent! Please pray that God gives her grace and favor, and that the social workers do not do a bad or insufficient assessment and that they will see all the progress she's made and put it on the assessment! and that whatever attempts the workers make to sabotage her, God overcomes that and still gets my friend into the assisted living He wants her in!

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your dear friend in this difficult situation. Father God, we know that You see all things and that Your justice and mercy prevail even when human actions seem unjust. We ask that You intervene in this assessment process, that truth and integrity would guide the social workers’ evaluations, and that any unrighteous motives or biases would be exposed and corrected. Your Word declares in Proverbs 21:1, "The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." We pray that You would turn the hearts of these workers to act fairly and honestly, reflecting Your righteousness.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of deception or malice that may be influencing this situation. In the name of Jesus, we command any ungodly influence to cease and for Your light to shine upon the truth of your friend’s capabilities. We ask that You grant her favor in the eyes of those making these decisions, that they would see her progress, her independence, and her rightful need for assisted living rather than a nursing facility. Psalm 5:11-12 assures us, "But let all those who take refuge in you rejoice. Let them always shout for joy, because you defend them. Let them also who love your name be joyful in you. For you will bless the righteous. Lord, you will surround him with favor as with a shield."

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for your friend and those advocating for her. May she be surrounded by people who will speak truth on her behalf and ensure that her rights are upheld. Proverbs 31:8-9 reminds us, "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy." Lord, raise up voices to defend her and guide her through this process.

Father, we trust that You have a plan for her life, and we ask that You lead her to the place You have prepared for her, whether that is assisted living or another provision You have in store. Give her peace in the waiting and strength to endure this trial. We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that Your will shall be done in this situation.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who intercedes for us and through whom we have access to the Father. Amen.

It’s maddening when a professional who should be helping seems to be working against someone, and your friend is blessed to have you standing with her. The fact that another assessment is happening means there’s still room for the truth to be made clear, and we’re praying with you for that.

One thing that can make a real difference is having an advocate present during the evaluation. If you or another trusted friend can be there, it may help the social worker see a fuller picture, and it often changes the tone of the whole interaction. Even if you can’t be in the room, helping your friend prepare a simple list of daily tasks she can manage safely, with recent examples, or a brief note from a therapist or aide who’s seen her progress, can provide objective evidence that’s harder to dismiss. Sometimes the system responds better when someone speaks up calmly and firmly alongside the person being assessed.

We’re asking God to bring truth to light, to touch the hearts of those doing the assessment so they really see her, and to open the right door into the assisted living community where she’ll thrive.

Lord Jesus, you know the frustrations and the fear here, and you see the independence your daughter still has. Please give her grace and favor as she goes through this next evaluation. Let the workers do their job honestly and well, noticing every area of progress. Frustrate any attempt to misrepresent her, and clear the way for her to move into the place you have for her. In the meantime, give her peace and a steady hope. Amen.

The low tree, fostered by the husbandman, shall mount even to the stars; the high tree, cut down by the axe of judgment, shall lay outstretched along the plains of ruin for ever. Here is comfort for your friend: she is brought low, and the proud arm of flesh that writes falsehoods exalts itself against her. But the Lord sees the lie, and He will not suffer the green tree of worldly power to flourish when it bears such fruit of deceit. Her name, the name of that worker, is Pride, and she is being wedded to the great transgression of bearing false witness. Let not your friend despair; the Almighty takes note of these things, and He will yet display His perfections in her deliverance.

There must be a living, loving, lasting union with Christ for her soul to rest in now. Living contact with Him is our only hope, either for the present or for the future. Let her find her life in Him, and then, whether she be in an assisted living or a place she does not desire, her true dwelling will be the Eternal God. Underneath are the everlasting arms. The assessment of man is a puff of air, but the refuge of the Most High is a habitation that cannot be shaken. Pray that she feels those arms beneath her, even when the words of men seek to cast her down.

Consider this: those human schemes are a false fire, a superstitious veneration of a document that cannot stand against the Spirit of truth. The hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The formalities of a state assessment are nothing to Him who fills all things. He will thrust out her enemies before her, and the lies that have blocked her path shall be as the nations before Israel, devoted to destruction. He will say, “Destroy them,” and His truth shall clear the way.

Yet, mark what kind of truth must be bought. Have those social workers always spoken the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? No; their heart has not gone with their pen. But your friend must see that her own standing is not in her physical capabilities, reported truly or falsely, but in the experimental truth of her own soul. Let her see that her true unworthiness lies not in a false assessment but in a heart that must lean wholly on Christ. If she is trusting in her own independence alone, it is a dry tree. But if she is emptied of that conceit and finds her all in Him, she is a tree planted by the rivers of God's living waters. That is the favor she most needs: the sweet savor of His grace, where He comes flying on the wings of the wind to display His love.

So, pray that God gives her that grace and favor, which is first and foremost the favor of a soul reconciled to His will through the blood of Christ. Pray that she might have a living, loving, lasting union with Him, for then her life is hid with Christ in God, and no lying report can touch her true dignity. And then, in outward matters, let her trust that the Lord who hears the cry of the humble will also confound the tongues of the false. The truth of God, practical and plain in the outcome of this situation, will yet be displayed, for He will have His way with His own beloved. The dry tree in her life, where fleshly hopes have failed her, shall by divine grace begin to flourish. And the high tree of the adversary's scheming, deserted by the dew of heaven, shall dry up. Cast the burden upon Him, for the Lord of all the earth will do right.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Consider how often God permits the malice of men, not that His purposes might be overthrown, but that through their very deceit His power and lovingkindness may shine the brighter. The social worker who lied does what she does, perhaps, out of some dislike; yet remember, the enemies of the paralytic accused him of Sabbath-breaking, but he did not hide his cure or return their anger. He confessed the benefit openly, and God was glorified. So too your friend: she has made progress, and that truth cannot be buried forever by a false report. The assessment is but a human judgment, and God sees the heart and the limbs as they truly are.

Pray, yes, for grace and favor; pray that the assessors may see clearly and record honestly. But do not let your friend’s peace depend on the outcome of a human document. If she is indeed able, God can open a door no lie can shut. And if, for a time, He permits her to be sent to a place she does not want, even that may become a workshop of patience and humility. For the poor and the infirm are often the healers of our wounds: by enduring injustice without bitterness, we receive more than we give, we store up treasure in heaven. Let her therefore show such meekness and gratitude before these workers that they might be shamed into doing right, or else that God may see her innocence and fight for her. For what did the Lord teach? Love your enemies, do good to those who spitefully use you. That is true hospitality of the soul, receiving even their hostility as a kindness, because it drives us closer to God.

Do not allow fear to rule. The day will come when lies are exposed. In the meantime, let her prepare her own heart, so that whether she dwells in an assisted home or a nursing ward, she makes of it a temple of praise. The Lord who fed thousands with loaves and fishes, and taught them to sit on the grass as equals, will not abandon her. He gives His gifts not only to the rich or the clever, but to all who trust Him. Stand firm, pray without ceasing, and commit your friend into the hands of the God who raises the dead. He will bring it to a good end.

The situation you’ve described is heavy with a kind of injustice that wears on the soul, someone with authority misrepresenting the truth about your friend’s own body and capabilities, simply because of personal dislike. It’s a vivid reminder that we live in a world where corruption can touch even the places we should be able to trust for care. But take heart: the God we serve is not indifferent to such things. He is full of compassion, plenteous in mercy, and utterly committed to truth. When assessments are twisted and doors shut by human deceit, He remains the one who opens what no one can shut.

I think of the way Scripture shows us people seeking simple grace and favor in unexpected places. Your friend is doing the same now, hoping the next assessment will be honest, that her real strength will be seen, and that she’ll find a way into the assisted living where she can flourish. We can pray with confidence that the Lord would grant her that favor, that He would soften hearts and open eyes to the progress she’s truly made. It’s not just a hope; it’s a request we bring to the God who delights in giving good gifts to His children.

At the same time, we’re not naive. We know that those who are set against her may try again to paint a false picture. Lies and manipulation are the fruit of a world still groaning under sin’s weight. But God’s truth outlasts every human report. The real assessment of her worth and capability is already written in heaven. Your friend isn’t defined by a social worker’s pen; she is known fully by the One in whom she lives and moves. When Christ is your life, no earthly label can strip away the dignity He gives.

So let this be a moment to love in deed and truth, not just in prayer alone. Stand with her however you can, a phone call, a visit, advocacy in those meetings, the kind of tangible support that proves the love of Christ to her. Such acts have a way of quieting our own hearts and reminding us we’re walking in the truth ourselves.

Now I join you in bringing this need before the Lord:

Father, You see the hidden things. You perceive the motives of every heart, and no unjust assessment escapes Your notice. We ask that this next evaluation would be marked by integrity and accuracy. Thwart any attempt to sabotage or to diminish what You have restored in this woman’s body. Give her a calm spirit and a steadfast hope while she waits. Open a door to the place You have prepared for her, a place where her independence can be exercised and her days can be lived in the fullness You intend. We trust You to be her advocate, her shield, and the lifter of her head. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I need to ask for intercession and spiritual warfare (for those who believe in that). It seems the enemy is trying to prevent ### from moving into assisted living because one thing after another comes up that threatens to keep her in the nursing rehab home she’s in. She could be within a month...
