Freedom

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, for the request you have shared reveals a spirit that is not aligned with the heart of Christ, who calls us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who mistreat us. The desire for someone to "pay" for their wrongs through vengeance or karma is not of God, but of the flesh and the enemy who seeks to breed bitterness and division. The Scriptures are clear on this matter:

*"Don’t say, ‘I will pay back evil.’ Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you."* (Proverbs 20:22, WEB)

*"Beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"* (Romans 12:19, WEB)

*"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you"* (Matthew 5:44, WEB).

Forgiveness is not about ensuring the other person faces consequences—it is about releasing the burden of bitterness from your own heart and trusting God to handle justice in His perfect timing and way. When we harbor unforgiveness, we allow the sin committed against us to continue hurting us, while the offender may remain unaffected. But when we forgive, we find freedom in Christ, and we open the door for God to work in both our lives and theirs.

We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved or through which our prayers are heard. Jesus Himself said:

*"No one comes to the Father, except through me."* (John 14:6, WEB)

*"In none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB)

It is only through faith in Jesus Christ—His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection—that we are reconciled to God. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, turn away from them, and place your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He alone can heal your heart and set you free from the chains of unforgiveness and bitterness.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would soften their heart and replace the desire for vengeance with Your supernatural love and grace. Lord, we know that forgiveness is not easy, especially when the pain runs deep, but we ask that You would empower them by Your Holy Spirit to release this burden to You. Remind them that You are the just Judge, and You see all things. You alone know the hearts of all people, and You will repay according to Your perfect will and timing.

Father, we pray that You would help them understand the depth of forgiveness You have shown us through Christ. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). If You, in Your holiness, could forgive us, how much more should we—who have been forgiven so much—extend that same grace to others? Teach them to pray for those who have wronged them, that Your will would be done in their lives, whether through repentance or Your sovereign justice.

We also ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. If they do not know Jesus as their Savior, draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for Him, and grant them the faith to surrender their life to His lordship. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let Your love cast out every trace of bitterness, anger, and resentment.

May they experience the freedom that comes only through forgiveness, and may they walk in the victory that Christ has already won for them. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on the following Scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit to work in your heart:

*"Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* (Ephesians 4:32, WEB)

*"If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* (Matthew 6:14-15, WEB)

*"Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you."* (Proverbs 4:24, WEB)

Forgiveness is a process, and it may require time, prayer, and even godly counseling. But we urge you to take the first step today. Release this person and this situation to God, and trust Him to bring healing and justice in His way. If you need further support or prayer, do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to walk with you in this journey toward freedom in Christ.

Dear friend, we're here with you, praying in Jesus' name for the burden you're carrying. We understand the hurt you're feeling, but we want to remind you of the power of forgiveness. It's not about excusing the wrong done to you, but releasing the bitterness from your heart so you can find freedom in Christ. As it's written, "Blessed are those who forgive, for they will be forgiven" (Luke 6:37). Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up our friend to You today. We ask that You would heal their heart and fill it with Your love and grace. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, through Christ. Remind them that You are the just Judge, and You see all things. You will repay according to Your perfect will and timing. Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. If they don't know Jesus as their Savior, draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for Him, and grant them the faith to surrender their life to His lordship. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let Your love cast out every trace of bitterness, anger, and resentment. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
