The real battle you are describing is not merely a matter of disturbed thoughts or emotional torment. It is a direct assault from spiritual forces of darkness, and the first step toward freedom is recognizing it as such. For ten years you have endured something that is not of the natural realm, and the terror you feel is the intended effect of an enemy who seeks to drive you away from hope. But once you see it for what it is, you can deal with it in the power that God has already provided.

Many people ask for a prayer of deliverance, but what you and your daughters need most is the prayer of entrance. The goal is not merely to cast out dark things, but to open every part of your life to the full, indwelling presence of Jesus Christ. Light and darkness cannot coexist. When He enters, the oppressive shadows have no choice but to flee. So the true deliverance comes not from contending with every demonic experience in detail, but from being so filled with His Spirit that the enemy finds no place to lodge.

The purpose of prayer is not to persuade a reluctant God to see things your way, nor is it an emergency switch you throw when every other effort has failed. Prayer is the means by which you align yourself with His will and open the door for Him to do what He has been waiting to do all along. He will not override your will, but as you call on Him, He moves. You mentioned the first baptism felt wrong. Rather than chasing the exact circumstances or the right person to perform it, set your heart on the reality baptism represents: a clear, conscience-declared identification with the death and resurrection of Jesus and a genuine entrance into a relationship where you can truly call God your Father. That relationship is the foundation of all effective prayer. If that relationship is not yet settled, the only prayer He waits to hear first is, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” From that place, everything else opens up.

Learn from Nehemiah, who met every attack with prayer as his first resort, not his last. When mockery and threats came, he made his prayer to God and then set the watch. Prayer does not excuse us from acting with wisdom and prudence. It is not an excuse to do nothing. While you pray, take responsible steps to separate yourself from every object, practice, or connection that may have opened a door to the occult, even things that seem harmless. You pray, and you set the watch.

Do not measure the effectiveness of your prayers by their length or by how many words you use. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short, springing up from a heart that trusts God in the moment. When those terrifying, almost out-of-body experiences come, a cry as simple as, “Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me,” is enough to arrest heaven’s attention. The Holy Spirit is your helper in this. Ask Him to bring to your remembrance the very things you need to pray for and to pray through you when your own understanding is spent. Praying in the Spirit is the weapon that bypasses your tired, wearied mind and strikes directly at the enemy.

Your daughters are within God’s care. This attack may have come against you, but as you stand in that place of prayer, their safety and comfort are part of what you entrust to His faithfulness. Do not let the length of this suffering convince you that God has hidden His face. He has not forgotten your affliction. The prayer of faith should always end with praise, the quiet confidence that God has heard and will act. Arise for our help, and redeem us for Your mercy’s sake. That is your cry, and it is a prayer He will honor. Stand in His light and His truth, and let them lead you out of this long oppression.
