I have read your cry for freedom from depression and for deliverance from all darkness for you, your mother, and your whole family. Your words are jumbled, but God sees the brokenness of your heart, and He is not far from the crushed in spirit. The deepest need you are expressing is not just relief from painful feelings or evil spirits; it is a heart made whole and clean before a holy God.
You ask for deliverance from unclean spirits and ungodly habits. That is a right cry. But I want you to see something Jesus made clear: what is going on in your heart is what truly matters. The outward things, even spiritual oppression, find their foothold where the heart is divided. A heart that clings to the world, that holds onto old loves or hidden sins, is like a house with its walls broken down. It becomes a defenseless city. God’s call is always for a full commitment. Where there is any unequal yoke with unbelief, where darkness and light are trying to share the same space, there can be no true fellowship. What communion has light with darkness? None. So the Scripture pleads, “Come out from among them and be separate, and touch not the unclean thing.” That is not merely about avoiding certain physical contacts; it is about the affections of your heart. Have you been touching things that God calls unclean, tolerating habits or entertainments or relationships that pull you back into the dark? If so, deliverance must begin with a clean break.
Jesus has total power over every unclean spirit. We see it when He set free the man living among the tombs, or when He healed the woman hemorrhaging for twelve years, ostracized and hopeless. He can do the same for you and your mother. But He does it by changing the heart from the inside out. The rituals and washings of the past could never truly cleanse; they only pointed to the need for a heart washed from wickedness. God is not looking for lip service or frantic words alone. What He desires is a broken and contrite heart, one that turns from its own wisdom and stops making excuses. If your heart is enlarged to Him, fully open and not divided, He will meet you. He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. That is the permanent healing and deliverance you seek.
Your mother’s darkness and the pains in your family are not beyond His reach either. The same Lord who turned a wind to drive locusts into the sea can turn every force of darkness away from your household. But you must not learn the lesson of those who saw others fall and still did not return to God with a whole heart. Train your heart on good things: the precious body of Jesus broken for you, the blood that speaks of a deliverance far greater than any earthly rescue. He was not broken in bone, fulfilling the Passover, so that you might be brought from death into life, from the power of Satan to the kingdom of God. Let your heart dwell there, not on the chaos.
Cease from trusting in your own strength. Ask the Lord, with the psalmist, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts.” When you cry out for healing for your broken heart and for every person you love, do it with a heart that itself has come out of the narrow place of depression into the wide place of His love. Rule over your own spirit; no longer let it be like a city broken down without walls. And remember, the darkness is passing, and the true light is already shining. Walk in that light. Hate no one, for hatred is walking in darkness. Let His love flow through you.
Jesus can deliver you completely from all uncleanness, all depression. Not by some magic formula, but by bringing you into a living, obedient relationship with Himself. Lay hold of that for yourself, and intercede for your mother and your family from that place of true light. He will receive you, and He will be a Father to you.
