Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects a mother's deep love and a clear desire to see your daughter walk in freedom, truth and wholeness, and we join you in bringing her before the Lord.
God's design for relationships is for good, and when a relationship is marked by control, manipulation, disrespect, dishonesty and selfishness, it does not reflect His will. Scripture shows that when people step outside God's design for marriage and family, the result is jealousy, rivalry and pain. A home that is lived in the middle of a polluted and controlling influence will touch everyone in the family, and it can wear down morals and peace. That is why your prayer to see every ungodly tie and controlling influence broken is right. We pray with you that the Lord would gently open your daughter's eyes to see what is dishonoring, that any false sense of commitment or pride that keeps her bound would lose its hold, and that she would no longer give to a man to whom she is not married the loyalty, obedience and priority that belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Sex and living together belong only within that covenant, and to put a boyfriend before family, health, work and faith is to give him a place God has not given him.
At the heart of every struggle in our relationships with others is our relationship with God. The first commands God gave concern our walk with Him, and unless that is right, our relationships with people cannot be right. When our fellowship with Him is restored, the other relationships begin to come into balance. God does not want a distant, ritual or legal observance from us. He invites us into a close, loving relationship as a Father to His children. Through Jesus Christ alone we are saved and adopted into His family, born again by His Spirit, and we can come to Him as Father. Your daughter's true worth is not found in being wanted or needed by a young man, but in being chosen and loved by Christ. We pray she would return to that first love, to hunger again for the Word, for prayer, for fellowship built on respect and love, and for the supportive family God has given her.
God puts tremendous priority on the family bond. The command to honor father and mother is the first command that deals with our relationships with people, and it carries a promise. In Scripture we see God calling Jacob to return to the land of his fathers and to his family with the promise, I will be with you. That call home was a call to blessing and protection. We pray your daughter would hunger for home again and that the Lord would restore honor, gratitude and love between you. We also understand the pain when another parent oversteps her place. God frustrates plans that bring division, isolation, disrespect and chaos, and He delights to bring healing where there has been wounding.
For the future, we join you in asking the Lord, in His perfect time and way, to provide a godly husband if it is His will, a man who respects her and her family, who provides well, who walks faithfully with the Lord, and who loves her as Christ loves the church. Scripture gives us a picture of this in Boaz, a kinsman who acted with honor, protection and provision, and who sought the good of the family and the woman entrusted to his care. Such a love reflects Christ's covenant love for His bride, the church.
We stand with you in the promises you have claimed. We plead the precious blood of Jesus Christ over you and your children, trusting that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and that by His wounds we are healed. We ask the Father to completely heal, restore and protect every broken and wounded place in your family, to surround you and your children with His guardian angels in every aspect of your lives, and to guard your home in peace.
Father, in the name of Jesus, we lift this daughter to You. Break every controlling and manipulative hold, remove pride and false obligation, and open her eyes to see clearly. Draw her back to Yourself, that she would know she is Your beloved child and find her worth in You alone. Restore her love for You, for Your Word, and for the family You have given her. Teach her to honor her parents as You command. Frustrate every scheme of division and isolation, and let Your peace reign in this home. Heal what has been broken, cover this family with the blood of Christ, and station Your protection around them. Lead her steps in purity and wisdom, and in Your time provide a relationship that honors You if it is Your will. We trust You to do what only You can do, and we thank You that You hear our prayer. In Jesus name, Amen.
