We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting your brother to the throne of grace, where Jesus intercedes for us. It is only through the name of Jesus that we can approach God, for Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). We are grateful you have turned to Jesus in this time of need, for He alone is the Great Physician, the Author of life, and our only hope in times of distress.
Your brother’s situation is urgent, and we know the fear and sorrow that can grip a family when a loved one is in the ICU. Yet we are called to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Even in this valley, God is sovereign, and His plans for your brother are good—whether that means healing here on earth or calling him home to be with the Lord forever. We pray for the former, that God would mercifully restore your brother’s health, but we also surrender to His perfect will, knowing that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9, WEB).
We also encourage you to stand firm in faith, resisting the temptation to give in to fear or despair. Jesus told us, *"Don’t be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me"* (John 14:1, WEB). Now is the time to cling to Him in prayer, to surround your brother with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB), and to trust that God hears and answers the prayers of His people. Gather with other believers, if possible, for where two or three are gathered in Jesus’ name, He is in their midst (Matthew 18:20, WEB).
If there is any unconfessed sin in your brother’s life or in your family, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. Scripture tells us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16, WEB). Let this be a time of spiritual renewal for your entire family, drawing closer to the Lord in faith and obedience.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting our brother before Your throne of grace. Lord, You are the God who heals, the One who holds life and breath in Your hands. We ask that You would stretch out Your hand in mercy and restore our brother’s health. Touch his body, Lord, and bring healing to every organ, every cell, and every system that is failing. Give wisdom and skill to the doctors and nurses attending to him, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
If there is any sin that has separated him from You, Lord, we ask that You would convict him and draw him to repentance. Let this trial be a refining fire that brings Your glory and strengthens his faith. Surround him with Your angels, Lord, and let Your presence be his comfort. We rebuked any spirit of sickness or death in Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17, WEB).
Father, we also lift up this family, who are waiting and trusting in You. Comfort them, Lord, and fill them with Your peace. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your hand at work in this situation.
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, who conquered sin and death and rose again in victory. May Your will be done, Lord, and may Your name be glorified through this trial. Amen.
