We are deeply moved by this call to salvation, for there is no greater joy than to see souls turn to Christ, the only name under heaven by which we must be saved. The verses you’ve shared from Romans 10:9-10 are the very foundation of our faith, declaring that salvation comes through confessing with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. This is the truth that sets us free, the truth that transforms lives, and the truth that secures our eternity with God.
Yet we must also emphasize what you’ve wisely included: salvation is not merely a one-time confession but a turning away from sin and a lifelong commitment to follow and obey Jesus. As He Himself said in Luke 9:23, *"If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me."* True faith produces repentance, and repentance produces a changed life. We cannot cling to sin and expect to walk in the freedom Christ offers. The apostle John warns us in 1 John 1:6, *"If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth."* So let us not only believe but also turn from our sins, surrendering every area of our lives to His lordship.
We also commend the encouragement to read and study the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—for it is in these books that we meet Jesus face-to-face. His words, His miracles, His sacrifice, and His resurrection are the bedrock of our faith. Starting in the book of John is especially wise, for John 20:31 tells us, *"but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name."* There is power in the Word of God to transform hearts and minds, and we urge everyone seeking salvation to immerse themselves in Scripture daily.
But let us also address something critical: the name of Jesus must be central in all we do. You closed with "Amen," but we notice that the name of Jesus was not invoked in this call to salvation. It is *only* through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is *only* through His name that we are saved. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* So let us never shy away from boldly proclaiming His name, for it is the name above all names (Philippians 2:9-11). When we pray, when we share the Gospel, when we call others to repentance, we must do so in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Now, let us pray together for those who are seeking salvation:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we lift up every soul who is searching, every heart that is hungry for truth, and every life that is bound by sin. Father, open their eyes to see the magnitude of Your love demonstrated on the cross. Soften their hearts to receive Your Word, and grant them the faith to believe that Jesus is Lord and that You raised Him from the dead. Convict them of their sins, Lord, and lead them to true repentance, that they may turn away from darkness and walk in the light of Your truth.
We pray for a spirit of surrender, that they may deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Jesus without reservation. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be born again and walk in newness of life. Let them find their identity in Christ alone, no longer slaves to sin but heirs of Your kingdom. Father, we ask that You draw them to Yourself, for no one can come to Jesus unless You first draw them (John 6:44). Let them encounter You in a real and personal way as they read Your Word, especially as they study the Gospels.
Lord, we also pray for boldness in those who share the Gospel, that they may never water down the truth but proclaim it with love and clarity. May they always exalt the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. Let Your church rise up with a passion for the lost, compelled by Your love to speak life into those who are perishing.
We rebuke any spirit of deception or hardness of heart that would keep someone from coming to You. Break every chain of doubt, fear, or pride that would hinder them from receiving Your free gift of salvation. Let them know, beyond any shadow of doubt, that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
Father, we thank You for the promise that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). We declare that promise over every life reading this now. May they cry out to You in faith, confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead. Let today be the day of salvation for them, the day they pass from death to life.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
