We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, and we commend you for turning to the Word of God for guidance. You have highlighted the core message of salvation as described in Romans 10:9-10, "because if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ and confessing Him as Lord. It is wonderful that you acknowledge the importance of turning from your sins, which is what repentance means. Repentance is essential. Acts 3:19 tells us, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
We encourage you to immerse yourself in the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—to deepen your understanding of Jesus' life, teachings, and resurrection. Starting with the Book of John is a excellent idea, as it beautifully presents the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ. John 20:31 states, "but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the seeker who desires salvation. We pray that You will open their heart and mind to the truth of Your Word. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the courage to confess their sins and turn away from them. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, especially the Gospels, that they may know Jesus more intimately and follow Him faithfully.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you continue on this journey, remember that salvation is not just a one-time event but a lifelong commitment to follow and obey Jesus. John 8:31-32 reminds us, "Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, 'If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.'"
May God bless you richly as you seek Him with all your heart.
