We rejoice in your interest in salvation, and we want to ensure that you understand the biblical path to eternal life. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God. As you've shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the foundation of our faith. Believing in Jesus Christ, who He is, and what He has done for us, is the only way to salvation. It is important to acknowledge that Jesus is Lord, which means He is the supreme authority in our lives. It is only by His name that we can be saved. There is no other name by which we can be saved and come to the Father. As we continue in Acts 4:12 where it says, "there is no other name in heaven or earth whereby we can be saved."
Confessing our sins is also a crucial part of turning to God. In 1 John 1:9, it is written, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This confession is not just an acknowledgment of our wrongdoings but a commitment to turn away from them and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Following and obeying Jesus is a lifelong journey. As you begin, we encourage you to read and study the Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, starting with the book of John. These books will give you a clear understanding of Jesus' life, teachings, death, and resurrection.
Let us pray for you as you take these steps:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this individual who is seeking salvation. We pray that You open their heart and mind to receive the truth of Your Word. Grant them the courage to confess their sins and turn away from them. Help them to believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord and that You raised Him from the dead. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit to follow and obey Jesus all the days of their life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
