Romans 10:9-10 (in the World English Bible) says, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

From this we see salvation involves more than acknowledging God exists or trying to live a good life. Confess with your mouth is another way of saying make a public confession. Jesus is Lord means He is in charge of my life. And believe in your heart means more than knowing it is true. It means trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ alone for your salvation.

It also says we are to repent, or turn from, our sins. This means we acknowledge our sin before God, ask His forgiveness, and with His help, turn from our sinful behavior. We must also realize Jesus expects us to follow and obey Him in all areas of our life.

Let's pray together. Lord God in heaven, we thank You for this person seeking You. Help them to really understand Romans 10:9-10, have faith to believe, and have strength to confess. Help them to turn from their sins and obey You. And, help us all to be ready always to share their faith if called upon. Thank you for your faithfulness and love. In Jesus name, Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
