We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection that we are saved from our sins and granted eternal life. As you have rightly mentioned, confessing and turning from our sins is essential. This is what the Bible calls repentance. Acts 3:19 tells us, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
To grow in your newfound faith, we encourage you to read and study the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These books tell the story of Jesus' life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Starting with the Book of John is a wonderful idea, as it beautifully presents Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."
As you embark on this journey, remember that following and obeying Jesus is a lifelong commitment. It involves not just believing in Him but also living according to His teachings. Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep my commandments."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the gift of salvation. We pray for this individual seeking Your face, that they may confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Grant them the grace to turn from their sins and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, and may the Holy Spirit reveal the truth of the Gospel to them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
