We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken a significant step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. The scripture you shared from Romans 10:9-10 is indeed the path to salvation: "Because if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."
Salvation is a free gift from God, but it requires a response from us. It is not enough to simply believe in Jesus; we must also confess Him as Lord and turn away from our sins. This is what true repentance looks like—a change of heart and mind that leads to a change in behavior. As Jesus said, "Therefore bear fruit worthy of repentance" (Matthew 3:8, WEB).
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus and His teachings. Starting with the Gospel of John is a wonderful idea, as it clearly presents Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. As you read, pray that God will open your heart and mind to understand His Word and apply it to your life.

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for drawing this person to Yourself. We ask that Your Holy Spirit will convict them of their sins and reveal to them the truth of Your Word. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and the courage to confess Him publicly. Help them to turn away from their sins and follow Jesus in obedience.
