We rejoice with you as you seek salvation, for it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is through Him alone that we are saved, as Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Confessing and turning from our sins is essential, as Acts 3:19 says, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord." This means we must acknowledge our sins, feel true remorse, and make a conscious effort to turn away from them.
Following and obeying Jesus is a lifelong journey of discipleship. As you begin your walk with Christ, start by reading and studying the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—which tell the story of Jesus' life, ministry, death, and resurrection. We recommend beginning with the Book of John, which beautifully presents the divine nature of Christ and the offer of eternal life.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a heart of thanksgiving for the seeker who has turned to Your Word for salvation. We pray that they will confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Grant them the faith to repent of their sins and the strength to follow and obey Jesus all the days of their life. Guide them as they study Your Word, and may the Holy Spirit reveal the truth of the Gospel to them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you embark on this journey, remember that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Stay rooted in the Scriptures, and may the Lord bless you as you grow in your newfound faith.
