We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, and we want to ensure you understand the biblical path to eternal life. You have shared Romans 10:9-10, which is a powerful declaration: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
This is the core of the gospel message. Believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to salvation. As it is written in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved. This means that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can be saved.
Confessing and turning from your sins is an essential part of this process. This is what is meant by repentance. True repentance involves a change of mind and heart that leads to a change in behavior. It is not just feeling sorry for your sins, but committing to turn away from them and follow Jesus. As Jesus himself said, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me, Matthew 16:24 WEB.
Reading and studying the Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John is a wonderful way to learn more about Jesus and his teachings. We encourage you to do this diligently. Starting with the book of John is a great idea, as it presents a clear picture of who Jesus is and why he came.
Let us pray for you as you embark on this journey:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you with thanksgiving for the seeker who desires to know you more. We pray that you would open their heart and mind to the truth of your word. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the courage to confess their sins and turn from them. Guide them as they read and study your word, and help them to understand and apply it to their life. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith alongside other believers. If you have any more questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask. We are here to help.
