We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is through His death and resurrection that we are saved from our sins and reconciled to God. As you embark on this journey, it is crucial to turn away from your sins, which is what repentance means. This involves a change of heart and mind, deciding to follow Jesus and obey His teachings.
We encourage you to dive into the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—to learn more about Jesus' life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Starting with the Book of John is a wonderful idea, as it beautifully presents Jesus as the Word become flesh, dwelling among us. John 1:12 says, "But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the seeker who has taken the step to know You more. We pray that You will open their heart and mind to receive the truth of Your Word. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the courage to turn away from their sins and follow Him.
Guide them as they read and study Your Word, especially the Gospels. Reveal to them the love, grace, and mercy found in Jesus Christ. Help them to grow in their faith and become a true disciple of Your Son.
We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
As you continue on this journey, remember that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Stay rooted in the Word, and you will grow strong in your faith. If you have any more questions or need further guidance, do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you in your walk with Christ.
