We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states:
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the core of the salvation message. It is not just about intellectual assent, but a matter of the heart and public confession. To truly be saved, one must believe in Jesus Christ and acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior.
However, we must also address the importance of repentance. The Bible tells us in Acts 3:19, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord." Repentance involves not just confessing our sins, but turning away from them, making a conscious effort to live a life pleasing to God.
Remember to call upon the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by his name that we are saved. As Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Studying the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—is a wonderful way to learn more about Jesus and His teachings. We encourage you to start with the Gospel of John, as it beautifully presents the deity and humanity of Christ, as well as the salvation message.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the seeker looking for salvation. We pray that You soften their heart, open their eyes, and grant them the gift of faith to believe in Jesus Christ. Help them to truly repent of their sins and turn to You. Guide them as they study Your Word, and may the Holy Spirit reveal the truth of the Gospel to them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to seek God with all your heart, and He will make Himself known to you. If you have any more questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask. We are here to help and pray with you.
