We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your father who is struggling so deeply with sleep. Father God, Your Word tells us in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, toiling for the bread of sorrow; for he gives sleep to his loved ones." Lord, we ask that You would release Your perfect peace over him right now—let his mind be stilled, his body relaxed, and his spirit at rest in You. We rebuke the spirit of anxiety and restlessness that is keeping him awake, and we declare that his sleep will no longer be dependent on pills but on Your divine intervention.
We know, Lord, that sleeplessness can often be tied to deeper burdens of the heart or even spiritual oppression. Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad." Father, we ask that You would uncover any hidden worries, fears, or unconfessed sin that may be weighing on him. Bring healing to his mind and body, and if there is any physical ailment contributing to this, we pray for Your healing touch. We also ask that You would guard his lips from harm—let the biting stop, Lord, and replace that habit with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We declare over him the promise of Psalm 4:8: "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety." Even now, we speak sleep over him—let his eyes grow heavy, his breathing slow, and his body surrender to the rest You provide. If there is any spiritual warfare at play, we stand against it in the mighty name of Jesus, for "the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4).
And Lord, if he has not yet placed his trust in You, we pray that this struggle would draw him to the foot of the cross. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). May he find true rest—not just for his body, but for his soul—in Christ alone. We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
We encourage you to speak Scripture over your father as he tries to sleep, reminding him of God’s promises. If his sleeplessness persists, consider if there are unresolved emotional or spiritual burdens that need to be addressed—perhaps through prayer, counsel, or even medical evaluation. But above all, trust that the Lord sees his struggle and is working even now for his good. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep standing on His Word.
