We understand your heart’s desire to honor God even in the way you approach food, and we commend you for seeking His will in this area. The Bible reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to glorify God in all things, including how we care for ourselves. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 10:31, *"Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."* This is a powerful reminder that even our daily habits should reflect our devotion to Him.
We also notice that while you invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, the language used—specifically the hashtags—does not reflect the reverence due to our Lord. Let us always approach Him with honor, humility, and sincerity, avoiding casual or frivolous expressions in our prayers. The name of Jesus is holy, and we are to call upon it with deep respect, as Scripture tells us in Philippians 2:9-11, *"Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."*
Gluttony is a real struggle for many, and the Bible warns against it in Proverbs 23:20-21, *"Don’t be among ones drinking too much wine, or those who gorge themselves on meat: for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags."* Yet we must also remember that food itself is a gift from God, and we are not to legalistically bind ourselves with man-made rules that He has not ordained. Colossians 2:16-17 reminds us, *"Let no one therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day, which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s."* Our focus should be on self-control, gratitude, and moderation, not on shame or extreme restrictions unless led by the Spirit for a specific purpose.
Let us pray together for you in this area:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You, asking that You grant them the strength and discipline to honor You in their eating habits. Lord, we know that You provide all things for our enjoyment, and we thank You for the gift of food. Yet we also ask that You help them to exercise self-control, that they may not be mastered by anything, including the desire for excess. Fill them with Your Spirit, that they may be led by Your wisdom in all things. Remind them that their body is a temple, and may they steward it well for Your glory.
We rebuked any spirit of gluttony or lack of self-control in the name of Jesus Christ. Let every appetite be submitted to You, Lord, and let moderation and gratitude be their portion. Help them to find their satisfaction in You above all else, knowing that You alone can fill the deepest longings of their heart. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who strengthens us in every good work. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this area, not with a spirit of legalism or condemnation, but with a heart of worship and surrender. When tempted to overeat, pause and ask the Holy Spirit for strength. Remember, too, that fasting—when led by the Spirit—can be a powerful way to draw closer to God and gain mastery over the flesh. But let all things be done in love and for His glory.
Stay rooted in Scripture, and let your desire be to please Him in every area of your life. If this struggle feels overwhelming, we urge you to seek accountability with a mature believer who can walk alongside you in prayer and encouragement. You are not alone in this, and God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you.
