We join you in prayer that the Heavenly Father will indeed help you return to your first love for God, as spoken of in Revelation 2:4, "But I have this against you, that you left your first love." It is beautiful to see your desire to have that intimate relationship with God rekindled, and the fact that you come in the name of Jesus Christ.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking that You help our fellow believer here to return to their first love for You.
One of the most important things in our lives will always be our relationship with you. Regardless of where we started with our relationship with you, we will always need to come back to our first love for God. We will always need to be steadfast in our faith and love for you. Yet power, riches, and luxury are constantly beckoning to us. They are always there to pull away from our first love for God. Wealth and power give us the illusion of security and self-sufficiency. In our pride, we feel that we can do without God. We want to help this person to return to their first love for God. We want to be their to support them as they make this journey.
Coming back to your first love for God is more than just a matter of turning back to God. When you return to your first love for God and you truly, truly repent, God will forgive you for what you have done. He will also cleanse you from all unrighteousness. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." But you have to want to come back to your first love for God.
Father, reveal Yourself to them anew, touch their heart, and captivate them again with Your love. Let Your presence be felt in their life, drawing them closer to You.
Restore unto them the joy of Your salvation, and uphold them by Your generous Spirit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God's face, just as King David did in Psalm 27:8, "My heart says of you, 'Seek his face.' My heart seeks you, Lord." Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we can approach God. This same name of Jesus is also the only name by which we can be saved. "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even in him doth a man become sound. This is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved!"
Keep pursuing Him, and He will surely draw near to you as per James 4:8, "Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. Amen.
