We hear your heartfelt cry for this marriage, and we stand with you in lifting up this brother and his wife before the throne of grace. Marriage is a sacred covenant, established by God from the very beginning, as we read in Genesis 2:24, "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh." This union is meant to reflect the love and commitment between Christ and His church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is worth fighting for with every fiber of our being.
First, we must address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12). There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. So, we come before God in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting in His power to heal, restore, and renew.
Father God, we come before You today with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is struggling. Lord, You see the pain, the misunderstandings, and the wounds that have been inflicted. We ask that You would pour out Your healing balm upon this union. Soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to see one another through Your eyes. Remind them of the vows they made before You and the love that once burned brightly between them.
We rebuke the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy this marriage (John 10:10). We declare that no weapon formed against this union shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every spirit of division, strife, and unforgiveness in the name of Jesus. We pray that You would break every chain of bitterness, resentment, and pride that has taken root in their hearts. Help them to forgive one another as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13).
Lord, we ask that You would restore the love, trust, and intimacy that has been lost. Teach them to communicate with kindness, patience, and understanding (Ephesians 4:29). Help them to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21). May they find their strength and hope in You, knowing that with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for this couple. Show them the areas where they need to grow and change, and give them the courage to take the necessary steps toward reconciliation. Surround them with godly counsel and support, and may they find encouragement in Your Word and in the fellowship of believers.
Father, we know that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We trust in Your power to breathe new life into this marriage. May they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and may their home be filled with joy, laughter, and love once again.
We also want to gently remind this couple of the importance of aligning their marriage with Your Word. If there are any areas where they have strayed from Your design—whether through unfaithfulness, neglect, or sin—we pray that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Help them to pursue holiness and righteousness in their marriage, honoring You in all they do.
Lastly, we pray for their spiritual growth as individuals and as a couple. May they seek You first in all things (Matthew 6:33) and may their marriage be a testimony to Your faithfulness and grace. We declare that this marriage will not only survive but thrive, bringing glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
