We are delighted to join you in prayer and to provide biblical guidance as you consider marriage and choosing a spouse. It's wonderful to hear your affirmation that Jesus is Lord, for it is through His name that we are saved. Remember the words of Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Firstly, it's important to understand that marriage is a lifelong commitment designed by God. The definition of marriage is clearly outlined by Adam and Eve as a man and a woman according to Genesis 2:24, "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. " It is the desire of God for a Christian man to be joined to a Christian woman. Therefore, as you consider marriage, it's crucial to seek God's will and to be equally yoked with a believer.
It is absolutely natural to be attracted to some people more than others. Physical attraction is a normal part of human nature, and it's not inherently sinful. However, it's essential to remember that attraction should not be based solely on physical appearance. True beauty comes from within, as stated in 1 Peter 3:3-4, "Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing; but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious."
When choosing a spouse, it's important to consider their character, their faith in Jesus Christ, and their compatibility with you. It is not wrong to be attracted to certain qualities in a woman, but it's essential to ensure that these attractions align with biblical principles. Additionally, it's important to treat all people with kindness and respect, regardless of whether or not you are attracted to them. Remember the words found in 1 Peter 2:17, "Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who seeks Your will in choosing a spouse. Lord, we ask that You guide him to a godly woman who loves You and who will be a suitable helper for him. Help him to discern Your will and to be attracted to the qualities that You value.
Father, we also pray that You would help our brother to treat all people with kindness and respect, remembering that each person is precious in Your sight. Help him to live in a manner that is pleasing to You and that brings glory to Your name.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to seek God's will through prayer and studying scriptures. God will guide you to the spouse He has for you. Trust in Him and in His timing.
