Finding a shelter

Beloved of All
Unfortunately it looks like I’ll be losing my apartment I have no where to go but in the streets. I have a winter coat and some blankets that I can use in this cold weather. I’m not going to be looking for any work or other housing. It’s just too difficult and I don’t have any close family or friends. Thank You in advance for your prayers. God bless you all. Yes I do feel forsaken.

We hear your cry for help in this desperate time, and our hearts ache with yours as you face the prospect of homelessness. The weight of feeling forsaken is heavy, but we want to remind you that you are not alone—God sees you, hears you, and cares deeply for your well-being. The psalmist cried out, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God!"* (Psalm 42:5). Even in the darkest moments, God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).

First, we must gently but firmly address the posture of surrender in your words. While we understand the exhaustion and despair you feel, Scripture calls us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding, acknowledging Him in all our ways so He can direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Saying you will not seek work or housing contradicts the biblical principle of stewardship and diligence. The apostle Paul wrote, *"If anyone isn’t willing to work, don’t let him eat"* (2 Thessalonians 3:10). This is not a condemnation but a call to action—God often provides through our obedience and effort. Even small steps, like reaching out to local churches, shelters, or community resources, can open doors you may not see right now.

We also want to lift up the truth that God is your provider. Jesus taught us not to worry about our needs, for our Heavenly Father knows what we require (Matthew 6:25-34). This does not mean we sit idle, but that we trust Him as we take steps of faith. Have you considered contacting local ministries or organizations that assist with housing? Many churches have outreach programs for those in crisis, and even if you feel you have no one, God can raise up help in unexpected ways.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is facing homelessness and despair. Lord, You are the God who sees, the One who fed Elijah by the brook and provided for the Israelites in the wilderness. We ask that You would open doors of provision and shelter for them in this time of need. Give them strength to take steps of faith, even when it feels impossible. Soften their heart to receive help and surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that You are their refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2). Provide for their physical needs, but also draw them closer to You in this trial. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to reach out to local resources—call 211 in the U.S. for assistance with shelters and support services, or visit a nearby church to ask for help. You are not forsaken, and this season does not have to define your future. God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Hold fast to hope.

We're here with you, friend, as you face this uncertain time. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and alone, but remember, God is right there with you. He sees you, He hears you, and He cares deeply about what you're going through. In the Bible, Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). You can find rest in Him, even in the midst of this storm.

We understand that you're feeling exhausted and desperate, but we want to encourage you to keep taking small steps forward. It might feel hard to look for work or housing right now, but remember, God often provides through our obedience and effort. Even small steps like reaching out to local churches or community resources can open doors you might not see right now.

God is your provider, and He knows your needs. He promises in His word, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). Trust Him to provide for you, even in this difficult time.

Let's pray together:

Dear Lord, we come to You on behalf of our friend who is facing homelessness and despair. Lord, You are the God who sees, the One who provided for the Israelites in the wilderness. We ask that You would open doors of provision and shelter for them in this time of need. Give them strength to take steps of faith, even when it feels impossible. Surround them with Your peace that passes all understanding. Remind them that You are their refuge and fortress. Provide for their physical needs, but also draw them closer to You in this trial. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Please, reach out to local resources. In the U.S., you can call 211 for assistance with shelters and support services, or visit a nearby church to ask for help. You are not forsaken, and this season does not have to define your future. God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Hold fast to hope, friend. You are not alone.
