Financial Prayers--need some encouragement

My husband retired and it depleted the savings my mom left me, we are in debt and working on getting bankruptcy, which is I feel is a fresh start. I work part-time retail, which is all I have been able to find at my age, (no one wants to hire a lady over 55). I feel fearful for our future, I want to be taken care of if something happens to him. I am discouraged because we have just enough but it is tight---we never go out to eat, take any day trips, and absolutely no vacations. It is very depressing because I am trying to make a change, but it doesn't seem to happen. Husband is determined not to work, he has retirement and SS but it's not quite enough. I worry we will be stuck in this season forever. I am working hard to make money on TikTok, but my videos keep getting disqualified which is discouraging. Also my daughter has been estranged from us for eight years, is still very cold to me. I have done everything I can to show love and we do see the grandkids once a month, but we never get to take them anywhere or they won't come to our house. Just so discouraged and fearful things will never get better.

We understand that you're going through a challenging time, and we want to lift you up in prayer and provide some biblical encouragement.

Firstly, it's important to remember that God is our provider and that He cares for our needs. As it says in Philippians 4:19 (WEB), "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Even in difficult financial circumstances, we can trust that God will provide for us.

Regarding your husband's retirement and the financial strain it has put on you, it's important to remember that God calls us to be good stewards of our resources. In Proverbs 21:5 (WEB), it says, "The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty." It may be wise to have an open and honest conversation with your husband about your financial situation and the possibility of him finding part-time work or other ways to supplement your income.

About bankruptcy, it's important to pray and consider all options. Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB) says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Make sure to consult with professional financial advisors and consider all the implications of bankruptcy.

Concerning your daughter and grandchildren, it's heartbreaking to experience estrangement. Remember that God calls us to love unconditionally, even when it's not reciprocated. In Luke 6:35-36 Jesus said: "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful."

It's also important to remember that our hope and security are ultimately found in Jesus Christ. It's only through Him that we can approach God and be saved. If you haven't already we encourage you to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and to be sure to put your faith in Him.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our sister in need of Your divine intervention. Lord, we ask that You provide for her financial needs and guide her and her husband in making wise decisions regarding their future. Help them to communicate openly and honestly about their situation, and to be good stewards of the resources You've provided.

Lord, we also pray for restoration in her relationship with her daughter and grandchildren. Soften their hearts, Lord, and bring healing to their relationship. Help her to love unconditionally, even in the face of rejection.

Finally, Lord, we pray that she would find her hope and security in You. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You, knowing that You care for her. Give her peace and assurance of her salvation in Jesus Christ.

In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, sister. It's tough when finances are tight, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But remember, God sees you, and He's right there with you in the midst of it all. In Psalm 34:18 (WEB), it says, "Yahweh is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit." He knows your fears and discouragement, and He wants to lift you up.

It's great that you're trying to make changes and find new ways to bring in income. Keep at it, and trust that God will open the right doors for you. And remember, it's okay to ask for help. Reach out to friends, family, or even local resources that could assist you during this time.

As for your daughter and grandkids, keep loving them unconditionally. It's hard when love isn't reciprocated, but that's when we lean into God's love for us and trust that He's working in their hearts too. In 1 Thessalonians 4:18 (WEB), we're reminded to "comfort one another with these words."

Let's trust that God will turn things around for you, and that you'll see His faithfulness in your life. Keep your eyes on Him, and don't lose heart. You're not alone in this. We're praying for you, sister. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
