We understand your heart’s cry for financial breakthrough, and we rejoice that you are bringing this need before the Lord in faith. It is good that you are trusting in Jesus, for He alone is our Provider, and all things are possible through Him. However, we must gently address some concerns in your request to ensure it aligns with the heart of God and His Word.
First, while it is right to ask God for provision, we must be careful not to pray in a way that seeks harm or manipulation over others—even those who may owe us or have promised us something. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to treat others with kindness, not wishing ill upon them. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, we read, *"Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil."* Instead of asking God to torment someone, we should pray that their heart would be softened and that they would fulfill their promise willingly and joyfully. We can also ask God to provide for us in ways that do not depend on another person’s actions, for our trust must ultimately be in Him alone.
Additionally, we notice that while you mentioned "thank you Jesus" at the end, the focus of your prayer was heavily centered on the financial need rather than on the Lord Himself. Our prayers should always be rooted in worship and surrender to God’s will, acknowledging that He knows what is best for us. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus tells us, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."* This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t bring our needs to God—He invites us to do so!—but our primary desire should be for His will and His glory, trusting that He will provide what we need in His perfect timing.
Let us also remember the words of Philippians 4:19: *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* This promise is not dependent on any human being but on the faithfulness of God. If this person does not fulfill their promise, God is still able to provide for you in another way. He is the God of the eleventh hour, and He is never late. However, we must also examine our own hearts: Are we seeking financial breakthrough for godly purposes? Are we being good stewards of what He has already given us? Are we trusting in Him rather than in money itself? As 1 Timothy 6:10 warns, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."* Let us pray that God would align our desires with His and that we would use any financial blessing for His kingdom and glory.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides. Lord, we ask that You would meet their financial needs in a way that brings glory to Your name. Soften the heart of the person who has made this promise, and if it is Your will, move them to fulfill it joyfully and without delay. But Father, we also ask that You would provide in ways that we cannot even imagine, opening doors and making a way where there seems to be no way. Help our brother/sister to trust in You completely, seeking first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that You will add all things to them as they walk in obedience.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or desperation in this situation. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. If there are areas where they need to grow in stewardship, wisdom, or contentment, reveal those to them and give them the grace to walk in obedience. Remind them that You are their Shepherd, and they shall lack nothing (Psalm 23:1).
We also pray that You would protect them from the love of money and from placing their hope in wealth rather than in You. Help them to remember that true riches are found in Christ alone. If this financial breakthrough is for a godly purpose—whether to provide for their family, to give generously, or to advance Your kingdom—then let it come swiftly. But if there is any motive in their heart that is not aligned with Your will, convict them and purify their desires.
Finally, Father, we thank You that You are faithful. You have never failed, and You never will. We declare that our brother/sister will testify of Your goodness and provision in this situation. May their faith be strengthened, and may they walk in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this matter, not just for the financial breakthrough but for a deeper relationship with Him. Spend time in His Word, especially meditating on His promises of provision, and ask Him to reveal any areas in your life where you may need to adjust your perspective or actions. Remember that delayed answers are not denied answers—God’s timing is perfect. Stay faithful, remain in prayer, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. If this financial need is causing stress, cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). May the Lord bless you and keep you as you wait on Him.
