A thankful heart is itself a token of mercy, and it is good to hear your voice lifted to bless the Lord for what He has done for you. To bless God for His goodness should be our life, for He has blessed us just where we needed blessing, where we were poorest in spiritual things.
The Scripture teaches us that every spiritual blessing comes not by chance, but from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, and that the double blessing of grace and peace flows only through Him. Temporal mercies, such as daily provision and money for our needs, are indeed crowning mercies which call for crowning thanksgiving, and we do well to make a note of them and not receive them without rendering praise. Yet above all we bless Him for grace to save, for peace with God, and for life in Christ Jesus, without which all other gifts would leave us still poor.
True gratitude does not rest in words alone. It proves itself by tangible deeds. As one who has been served by Christ, let it be your purpose to serve Him in return. Keep on blessing God from the first word to the last, and then go on blessing Him till the last hour of life. Win hearts to Him, fight against evil, set up a standard for the truth, and be willing to serve Him in repute and in every way for His name sake. Do some act of kindness for a needy saint, minister to Christ in His people, and so show your gratitude for what the Lord has done for you. In this way your thanksgiving becomes eloquent and God receives the revenue of glory which His grace deserves.
We join our prayer with yours in thanksgiving.
O Lord our God, we bless Thee for Thy daily goodness and for Thy greater spiritual blessings in Christ. We thank Thee for hearing prayer and for supplying our needs. Give this dear soul grace to know Thee more, to glorify Thee as God, and to be truly thankful, walking in the faith of Jesus Christ through whom alone is salvation. Make this life to be a blessing to others, and keep this heart ever blessing Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
