What are the steps to obtain divine favor?
Generally, Christians wanted to be blessed. Who does not want blessing? Of course we all do want divine favor from the Lord God.
Some Christians are wondering why their prayers have not been answered. Some are also questioning God why they were not heard in their prayers. With all the questions in your mind about your unanswered prayer... did you try to find out how and why you have not received the things you prayed for?
Before I received Jesus as my personal Savior and my Lord... I had a lot of questions in my mind about those unanswered prayers. There was even a time when I was asking God... where was he? I was asking him why I could not even have peace in a day or could not even laugh in a day without tears and pain in return. I had been praying zealously you know. I did what I thought was right for a good Christian. I even had callous in my knees trying to ask God for the only thing that mattered most to me... the peace and happiness in my life. But I did not find peace. I will be happy in one day then the next day... problems will make me cry again. Problems that for me as a single parent with two sons to support was really hard. I did not experience peaceful sleep at night.
Can you sleep without thinking problems? Well, at that time I did not. But... when I received Jesus with all my heart as my Lord and Savior, everything was changed. My life was changed forever. I fell in love with God... and still hopelessly in love with Him that my heart always long for His presence. This was the time then that meditating His Word and His counsel to walk in righteousness and drawing closer to Him made my prayer reached out to God.
So, if you are you in the time of your life which you need most God's favor, why not take the time to ponder, meditate and seek God's presence in your prayer closet. You will surely find Him, and if you need some guide-- take your bible and read the Word of God. If you don't have any bible then you might as well take note of some steps which I learned in asking for "divine favor."
The bible says that our evil lusts and desires most of the time blocked our prayers to be heard by God. So how we may overcome them and gain God's favor? The reasons are:
James 4:2-3 "You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures." (NIV)
It is very clear then that our sins blocked the door of heaven for our blessings. But God's mercy and unfailing love gives us the answer on how to reach out to Him and receive His divine favor that we may have all the blessings we had been asking for.
The steps to obtain divine favor which we can find in the book of James 4:7-9 (NIV)
· Submit to God
· Resist the devil and he will flee from you
· Draw near to God and He will draw near to you
Seek God with all your heart with all your mind, with all your soul for to you will be given the promises of God to those who seek him.
· Cleanse your hands (Spiritual cleansing) 1 John 3:3 "Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure." (NIV)
· Purify your heart (repent for being double-minded)
· Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord with:
o Repentance
o Contrition
§ Weeping for our sins
Let all worldly laughter and joy that made us so attached to the systems of the world, especially in our culture, be turned to gloom; weeping for our sins, and have a godly repentance that you might received cleansing and purification from the Lord.
The Lord God has given promises to the seekers and to the humble.
Promises to those who seek him:
Deut. 4:29 "But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul."
2 Chron. 7:14 "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."(NKJV)
Psalm 9:10 "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you." (NKJV)
Psalm 22:26 "The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the Lord. Let your heart live forever!" (NKJV)
Proverbs 8:17 "I love those who love me, and those who see me diligently will find me." (NKJV)
Isaiah 45:19 "I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, seek me in vain. I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right." (NIV)
Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (NIV)
Daniel 10:12 "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them." (NIV)

Luke 18:7 "And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?" (NIV)
John 14:14 "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (NIV)
The Word of God never lies. He is the faithful one. Even if we are stiff-necked people God is always extending His hands to us.
Please pray for my finances. I am a widow with four kids. I am working but cannot afford daily living. I am blacklisted and cannot buy a house of my own. I keep on renting properties and sometimes meeting evil landlords. My kids are tired of moving from one place to another every year, it is affecting them. I cannot afford normal living which includes basic needs
